ahh, the 5 additional cost for every 150 points makes this unit balanced, and i was worried you'd give it a 14in range. Very good mech/pilot. Do you guys think this will replace the banson solitare, or give it a nice companion?

It is truely an awesome unit. I enjoyed finally being able to see the stats. Personally I could not ever play this pilot, no Marauder in his right mind could ever play it because of the way Matt always takes our player out at the big events. Congrats Matt on an AWESOME pilot and solid Mech.

The way I read it, the player who uses Scrub/Matt in an army also cannot use an ability that ignores blocking, correct? So you would not pair Scrub up with Jack or Streak Missile units?

So, is Scrub at 130 points plus 43 (173 points) for Matt a good exchange for Jack and Julz which comes in at 182?
Whilst Jack, as a medium, should outscore Scrub, that class of mech is notoriously sub-optimal. Jack would never see play if it weren't for Julz. The Nighstalker's stats are marginally better than Scrub in some areas (agility, infiltration and vent rating) but these can be considered as marginal when it is clear that Jack and Julz lose out when it comes to AV, DV and speed.
However, you can get a top level army build if Jack isn't cancelled. With Scrub, you have an expensive and brittle light mech that is outscored by the BR Soli and possibly others.
Will the threat of Scrub be enough to remove Jack from the table or is the trade off so marginal that both build types will have sacrificed almost a third of their build total on a "niche" ability mech?
Lizzie was never as reliable as Julz but the surge in popularity of streaks may still come through - after all a 30-40 point investment in a card or a few squares of SE is a lot less to pass up than an actual mech figure.
I suppose the difference is that Scrub players are safe in the knowledge that they can nerf certain abilities and should be able to fight on their own terms. After all, Scrub and a BR Soli should make good running mates so there should be opportunities for Scrub to appear in "normal" builds.
I don't think that Jack is dead but perhaps those builds will need to incorporate some anti Scrub pieces like HS Sylphs in order to pin it and then kill it.
Just an after thought on this - does the appearance of Scrub mean that Yami Shiro builds deserve another look?
If Scrub can negate Jack and Streaks, then Yami is the best indirect shooter there is...

Sorry to bring up an old topic, but has anyone seen anyone use scrub yet? Its a piece that everyone talks about running and how it can change the meta game, but I haven't seen it played and I haven't really seen anyone play it other than Zxqueb, when he kicked my rear with it.

Have one but have yet to use it and haven't seen one in use either. Then again, thre's no meta-gaming going on around here so the fact that Refuge, Jack or Hamerfall SU Streaks never show up, means that you are pretty free to choose from any old mixture. One of my last opponents brought out 2 DF Pack Hunters... Now, should I make it to some of the bigger events this year, I'll have to take a serious look at either taking Scrub or, more likely, building around it. Scrub's very existence could well remove Jack builds from the game.

Scrub may be more of a metagame-changing piece than an actual meta piece itself. It makes me think a second time about taking Jack or a Streak-heavy army, or the SC/DF SA for that matter.
I also have never actually used Scrub in a match (that I can recall), although I have been very tempted to run it recruited to Kurita along with Yami/pilot and the HK FP that adds +1 damage to an attack. By using this, Yami becomes the only real option that can hit through blocking terrain, and it can hit for 4 Armor Piercing with the FP card.
Still haven't had the guts to run it though . . .

The piece is still a bit expensive for what you get especailly since you may never use the ability in a small tournament. I'd definitely consider it for a larger tournament since larger number of games means that there will be a better chance the ability comes into play. It's still a solid, fully repairable piece and its existence seems to have been effective in keeping the blocking-negators from continuing their toe-hold in the tournament scene.
