Can I throw one up? If so, build a Spirit Cat Army 450 without Anima or the Nova Cats, that would trounce most players, and is restricted legal.

Meta pieces (off the top of my head... I'm sure others will throw some up too.. Give us a couple of days to generate the "meta" list) Infantry: JF Sylph JF Fenrir ATV (any) Bayins Vehicles: Arrow IV (any) Paladin (Any) Kelswa (any) BR Sprint Zahn (any) DF Garrot Mechs Shiro (any) Rokurokubi (any) Chikako Black rose Peacemaker (not really meta, but I don't like it, so let's put it on here anyway ) Bounty hunter (either) Ok -- Done thinking for now... I'll add more later, I'm sure. Z

YAY! Chikako made the list.. Liao Long toms didn't I assume that the restriction is that it has to be a non-retired pieces?

@ RS: I would!
@ Baw: We can put LI long toms on the list if you like. Not many around me uses them.
I think we should also add the SH behemoth.

You don't have to put the Liao Long tom on the list I should start keeping quiet about it. I can ambush some people then the SH behemoth definitely needs a spot. Also does the DF donar still earn a spot in the Power Pieces category? baw

Can I throw one up? If so, build a Spirit Cat Army 450 without Anima or the Nova Cats, that would trounce most players, and is restricted legal. By "most players", I assume you mean Joe Casual Gamer, and not someone highly-ranked like baw and Zxqueb. I loves me a challenge (course, as a SC player, I've been workin on this since retirement went into effect ). I'll even resist all the sweet, sweet, Annihilation stuff just so you can throw the build down tomorrow. Lessee... Arnis Drummond - Dasher II - 160 pts. SC Thunder Fox - 135 pts. -SC Star Captain - 14 pts. SC Saxon x2 - 46 pts. -SC PAL Suit x2- 32 pts. SC Purifier x3 - 48 pts. SC Pride - 15 pts. ========================= TOTAL: 450 pts. I've done very well with this army whenever I've played it. It's all about attrition, killing support, and keeping your 'Mechs alive. I'd kill for SC Hoverbikes back, even in this age of Caustic and Subzero, just for some cheap harassers. And I'm praying on all that I know to be good and awesome about MW that CNC gets one of the rumored ATVs in Annihilation. End rant. Nick DeWitt proposed an interesting army element to me not long ago: a SC DI Morgan flanked by two SC SM2 artillery vehicles. The DI Morgan is a severely underrated piece (2/14" for 4 damage?! Decoy?! Tracked! Hotchimama!), as are the SM2s (21 defense with Decoy/Camo?!). This little combo basically gives you control of the board surrounding your DZ from the get-go. The SM2s aren't great for counter-battery, but they're fantastic when your opponent isn't playing arty himself. The buggers are just impossible to kill. Although, the last time I took that combo out, my DI Morgan was Good Night Irene'd the first turn after he got a shot off. Heh. So, I dunno. Problem with SC-pure in this day and age is just a lack of good infantry. Retirement just really exposed the sad fact that SC didn't get any really good infantry after FFE. Not that I didn't enjoy my ~3 years of Scorchers, Stalkers, Kage, CBA, Shock Troopers and Hoverbikes, I'd just like to have something... ELSE with which to play now. Wait, didn't I end this rant two paragraphs ago? Crap. So, yeah. There y'go. Have fun with it, and join me in waiting with baited breath for for SC Thunder Fox/Matt Lossey/ECM Suite.

Here's a power build, using none of your stinky "metagame" pieces. And it's even faction-pure.
DF Glory Fire Support Tank x2 - 168 pts. (I know, you're already going "what the hell--?") DF R10 Mechanized ICV - 48 pts. -DF Tokugawa Heavy Tank - 60 pts. DF JI2A1 Attack APC - 40 pts. -DF Undine - 23 pts. DF TrackBike x3 - 54 pts. DF Shock Trooper x3 - 42 pts. DF Faction Pride (+1 attack) - 15 pts. ================================= TOTAL: 450 pts.
I really thought about trying to fit it in a DF Mongoose with Evade/Grapple for "Court Jester" duties, as my buddy Mike puts it, but it just didn't work out. Maybe in 600.
Okay, so let's review: How many of you have actually played with the DF Glory? Holy crap, that is a fantastic piece. Here's the tactics:
Your Turn 1: Move DF Glory into base contact with single enemy infantry without easy breakaways (try and avoid LI ATVs), and within 10" range of whatever it is you wanna shoot at. Opponent Turn 1: Opponent attempts to shoot at DF Glory's 24 defense (thanks to Friendly Fire) or 22 if he succeeds breakaway. Your Turn 2: Declare a called shot, targeting the infantry you based on turn 1, and whatever unit you moved to within 10" of. Now you have no attack modifier! Ha!
Anywho, the Glorys move in formation with the R10, protecting its 2" minimum range. You can use the Glorys to clear basers off the the R10, as well as its own 3 dmg ballistic shot. Your transports are all tertiary hammers behind the tanks, by virtue of their 9 attack/3 dmg profile. Run the TrackBikes in against a 'Mech that's running hot, forcing it to a.) break away, risking more heat, or b.) hold still and cool, risking a 12IT/2 ArP shot. The Shock Troopers can serve as hail-mary capturemonkeys and formation helpers and harassers and whatever.
Love that army.
-Trev!

The trick is getting the Glory's to position with 10" of a target. They do move fast but still they tend to go beat up getting there. I couple of pogs on them and they are still pretty impressive when they get Homing Beacon but the 10" is still just too short. One guy playing in a game I ran last night must have been listening to you trevor... ALthough he asked me for DF Glory tanks.. I had two I gave him. He played 4 in a 600 pt battle! He was losing pretty badly with them then I gave him some advice.. Ram with them. Get them close he ended up taking out an opponents mech but not enough to win him the game! baw

Kaiser,
You can use the old saxons in restricted games because the new ones are reprints. No need to get anything new on that front!

Zxqueb,
Really? Huh, I just noticed I have an old Saxon, so all I need are two Purifer BA, ...really miss the old days of CBA, hopefully AN gives the CNC some good replacements for them, perhaps even a reprint would not be too much to ask for. The CBA in nature certainly were not broken, but just really good.
Trevor,
You mind if I put this up in the SC/CNC/HK/DF/SW/CW army thread on this site? I will give you credit of course, but that thread needs some SC builds in it.
