How go or bad is a shiro in any army. Is it crutch or an overwelming tactical advantage?

Bah, Shiro is a nice piece in 600pts,
The main advantage of Hk is that since their ATK values rise with damage, a crit miss will not hurt them. As such, the Shiro really is not concerned with Crit Misses. I find it a attention commanding piece, especially the "Kaminari" one(And if anyone has its pilot, I need it) thanks to the 18" range on it and 5AP. But the thing is, once it gets knocked out of good damage slots, it is pretty useless. Sure, you have a big 11-12ATK piece, but can only melee now! Oh joy! That is the problem with the Shiro, and HK in general, when you get to the best ATK, you can only Melee in most cases.

The Shiro's are pretty nasty! Some of the top players have started a yahoo group to fight against the Shiro and black rose.

I joined the yahoo group. I hate the shiros.
My vote, crutch.
Alot of mechs have 4-5 damage they can pump out, but the shiros 18 is downright unfair for the most-part. most shiros will have a 22 inch move and shoot, which outranges most spirirt cat ranges, and the shiros 18 inch standard range is longer than some mechs assault orders.
At our local venue, in 600, a player played a shiro (some pilot and IT) and a JF Goshawk w/ Dave Rees as pilot. You couldn't stay away or you get blasted, you come close and the Goshawk jumps you. How freaking fair is that?
Not only are the mechs not so fair, but there pilots are quasi broken as well. Kenshin Tadashi has a great power that lets him strike anywhere he wants for 3 AP, and with IT his 10 atv won't miss too often. Moriko's Thunder Blow ability is amazing, with the chance of blowing all based annoyances back into her firing range, for free! The last guy, whatever his name is, I get to do 2 things this turn, whatever I want, I'll blast you twice, whatever, just die.
Shiros f**king suck, end of story.

Wow, Warlord, how do you really feel?
I don't know about them being broken. They are easily based. Since they only have a single target, that drops their attack by 2, essentially... Either that, or they waste time killing infantry. Their defenses are ok, but not stellar. The black armor is nice. But really, these things ring in at about 300pts. That's a LOT to spend for what they can do and how easily they are shut down.

Ah... but thats what sweeping blow on Moriko is good for... I used the immense range + the Df/SC alliance to good effect during the September Storyline.... as noted And its not that that they have only a single target.. the ballistic weapon actually has 3 targets... its just the 4 inch min thats gets ya I personally enjoy playing my lone Shiro, as I like to reach out and touch something. But then again, I hate facing shiros... so that equals... poggination

Alright Jeff, first off, I never owned more than 2 Arrow IV's at one time, I've been through 5 though.
And if I didn't bring the A4's, how was I gonna try and stop the ever-present wave of butt-loving targes that were at every venue and every army but mine? And don't deny it, because even after mike went to Yu Huang, you and matt still Targe'd it up.
New Quote: I f**king hate Liao Targes!

I have played against a couple of shiro's.. I usually leave them alone until you are ready to focus on them... (or just base with an infantry) I took like 8 SSW Arrow IV's to Worlds and I think I either used 1 or none

Ah, the targe... Those were the days! Z To paraphrase the song: "f**k, f**k, f**k, f**k the Liao Targe!" Baw: 8 A4's? Wanna trade some? I'd love to have a few more?

Targes? Meh, one good slap in the face and they are worth half their points. The problem with them was that black armor 22def, but one good hit and you could shatter that glass jaw of theirs.

Remember, there were no assault orders or pilots modding the attack up to 12. A targe was VERY hard to hit. That wasn't the main strength though. The power behind it was the fact that you could play TWO of them and still have enough points for support. They had to rewrite the rules to make me stop playing them!

I agree they had a glass jaw.. My last game I lost I remember playing against one.. I was rolling... BAD. I had Mason Dunne in formation attacking a targe twice in formation and once without. I couldn't roll anything! I missed everytime. Oh well Targe's were ok. I had to fight a lot against them. We had a liaoists here!

Everyone played Liao back in the day over here. It was like no other faction existed when it came to the power gamer set of players. I think I was the only one not play Liao around here.
Baw: Mason was the only way I hit the Targe's. I would play Mason Dunne and Colin Yukinov with 2 SSA4's. Both of my mechs outranged the stupid Targes which means they have to come to me, or reposition. I still hated those matches.
