I had a thought about an army last night; a hybrid of my earlier light swarm, c3i swarm, and Jack/LE Julie army ideas:
Jack/LE Julie/C3i 2 WH Anubis/Fortuna + Gloria/C3i
500 points exactly, leaving 100 points for basers. I wanted the 14 range on the Anubis, but the Mjolnir is quite a bit cheaper. Will have to think about the trade-offs there.
If Jack gets behind blocking and within 6 inches of a target, the Anubis/Mjolnirs will each have attacks of 14! Could be devestating against an Ares, Solitude, even Seka's Pride. 3-4 ArP damage from each light is nothing to sneeze at.

I just wanted to say that its great news that someone out there is looking for new ideas. I can't get past RHDMs (be they light or heavy). I don't have any C3i so this type of build will be one that I'd have to play against, rather than use myself. A coupld of things I'm not sure of with C3i - if the other C3i users have already moved into attack range on that turn, can they still support your C3i-equipped firer in the same turn? Also, does the "could make a ranged attack(??)" bit on the card mean that the other C3i-equipped pieces could be within assault range, or just normal range? C3i with Jack would seem to be a good idea as it stops you having to expose your pieces to your opponent and that slot used for C3i could have always been a decoy card... Happy New Year by the way!!

if you truly think you are on something dont post here :-p lol! There are still eight months between now and Worlds. Worlds will have, what, forty players or so? Maybe more? The odds are highly against someone seeing this idea, remembering it eight months from now, and preparing to face it (and me, of all people!). Something tells me that revealing army ideas on this board - where it has been read by you and tjpandv - is one of the safest boards out there. Besides, this was just a silly idea I came up with on the fly, not a polished army idea.

And Happy New Year to you too sir! This one I'm not sure on - I still need to look it up on the WizKids forum.

Just been searching the WK rules thread and I think there's plenty on C3i to answer my own question...lazy, lazy, lazy me... Originally Posted by KotchTo add to the Issues...9. No, it is not limited if it already was given an order this turn. If unit A, B, and C are all in range of Target X, when unit A makes a RCA against Target X, it would get +2 to its attack (+1 for each other unit with C3i in range of targetX). When unit B makes a ranged combat attack against target X, it would get the same +2 to attack, as would unit C when attacking target X that turn.Originally Posted by KotchAlmost there. Presumably the units must be no closer than their (shortest?) minimum, no further than their (longest?) maximum and in arc? With a clear LOF?Reply from Southpaw13Within range, and clear LOF yes. They must be able to make the RCA from that point, these things: range, LOF are part of that.So it looks like the supporting units have to be in normal firing range when they activate their C3i and not within assault range. Still, very effective if you can get 3 mechs all supporting each other with their C3i systems. Looks like second pulse shots also benefit as would a formation fire.

How about the Twins as C3i carriers? The latest FAQ doesn't say that they ignore their CECs and that second order will allow them to do something like this...
Glory runs into firing range.
Fortune runs into firing range.
Glory fires at target using own C3i and boosted by Fortune's.
Fortune fires at target using own C3i and boosted by Glory's.
If you had another fast mech in there also equipped with C3i, then it could have moved into firing range ahead of the Twins to add another +1 to the AV.
Don't forget that each Twin also gets +1 for firing at Mechs.
With the 3rd C3i mech in there as support, that's an AV of 11 (with maybe a +1 for firing at a Mech) plus a further 3 for the C3i systems.
Downside has to be their short range and fragility but the target could welll have 6 damage on it with a click of heat to boot and be faced the next turn with 3 light mechs to deal with.
Its a long itme since I played the Twins and I can only assume that's because they're regarded as defunct.
Glory+Pilot+C3i Fortune+Pilot+C3i Raven Magister+Goshen Pilot+C3i 3 x HD Purifier BA 4 x CNC/HK ATVs
The Raven is expensive but combines IT and C3i. The BR Soli would be a cheaper alternative. If its Mechs you're after, then the Seafox Soli could give you that extra killer shot once your target's in salvage...

Good point Brinxter, I've just read a few of the Rules threads over on the WK site and it looks like its a LOT more limited.
So, is this right..?
Glory can run into a firing position (given an order token).
Fortune get the free order and runs into a firing position (gets a token).
Glory can now fire using her "own" order - taking a click of heat in the process.
Fortune can not activate as she already has a token.
All in all, a bit of a pain just to get a 2-4 damage onto a mech.
Oh well, back to the drawing board...
Also, just realised that IT and C3i can't be used together as they both require the crosshairs symbol, so that's the Raven out.

No, when you give a twin their "free" order it doesnt get a token iirc. I am not to sure on how it works, but thats how i read the rules

So, what I'm now looking for is a couple of fast lights that can get their C3i gear into position and allow a third mech come come along and blast away.
The lights should have BIG speed or good speed and a long range. The Solis or an Anubis come into mind.
With 2 C3i cards in play, this should allow the shooter to boost their AV.
I don't like taking SAs as they are a lot of points but the SC/DF one that allows you to ignore blocking if you have a "spotter" may come in useful. I think that there's only the HK Sylph to choose from here. Gives you that Jack/Julz ability but allows you to choose mechs that are perhaps more dangerous than Jack.
Looking at the SC/DF lists, the choice is pretty poor. CNC and HK pieces are far better but they make the SA more vulnerable by not being from "core" factions.
Piloting WH pieces with Gunslingers that are recruited to DF or SC is a solution. Offers up the chance to use the Mjolnir, Anubis etc. I think the Thor's points values come in too high for it to be used.
In some ways, I'm pleased that there's been a pause in the releases - its giving me time to re-examine some of the stuff I have without having to hoist onboard the new bits.

I suppose the problem with C3i is that is prevents the use of IT. So, you end up with a high AV but no chance of a re-roll.
There are a couple of SAs out there that will give you that effect.
Kurita/ROTS allows you ro re-roll all 3 dice.
Stormahmmers/SSwn allows you to re-roll 1 dice.
Another boost could come from the Kurita/Davion SA that gives 1 unit +1 to its AV.
Trade-off, as ever, is points and your starting position for VC2.
I haven't looked at faction-specific mechs but any Gunslinger in a WH Mech can be recruited to pretty much any faction.
The other option is to go for the ROTS/Liao SA that would allow you to set up out-of-base RC formations. Tricky to do but each C3i piece would contribute +3 to the attack.

Can Jack make use of the C3i? Julz's ability only clears a LOF for ballistic attacks. Do you mean that Jack clears the LOF for the Anubissss and moves within its own firing range to add to the C3i shootfest?

No i dont think that will work. Since Julie's ability only clears LoF for an attack, and the second Anubis is not making one, it cannot help with its C3i.
Your RoTS - Liao C3i idea is interesting however. Sadly not enough time to actually do something with it, and not enough units like Sparky to abuse it either (cheap-ish mech with 16")
