As I stumbled into my local Wal-fart today, what did I discover but ....::drumroll::....
The uber-sooper heroscape castle of doomination set. Holy smokes does it come with a lot of pieces. All for the not to shabby price of $25! (after tax!)
I also found wave 5 at the frenchy french store so I am now the proud owner of 2 more dragons, the giant dude, a new major for soulborgs and a cute wittle gwiffin....
Did I mention more ninja's, samurai, hot chicks in spandex and....Sparticus!!!
Now if I can only find those elusive Yeti.....

Awesome -- I have to go to wal mart today anyway -- I'll have to run by the toy section. I picked up wave 5 at target the other day, but haven't found any of the big packs yet.
Any special rules for the castle?

Guys, no sign of this in the UK yet - I have quite a bit of Heroscape and would be interested in finding out what you think of the contents. Does 1 box make a decent Castle?
Cheers

Does 1 box make a decent Castle? I'd like to know this too, Jeff. I stopped at the store this morning on my way to work -- Didn't find the castle (though they had space set aside on the shelf for it), but DID manage to pick up the Ice box and the Giants box. Those giants are CRAZY good. Ice seems like Lava -- Useful more for scenarios than for anything else. I like the glaciers, though. No second ice box there Jeff. If I find one, I'll pick it up for you. So... uh.. We playing heroscape this weekend? I'll drive out you your side of town! Z

I see we have some other Heroscape fans chiming in here, guess we need another forum! Nothing worse than a homeless thread ;D
Yes Matt, The new giants absolutely rock! They are definitely dedicated anti-swarm pieces designed to take out common army squads in one nasty attack, something the game needed for those who play competitively.
As for the castle, as I said before I was very impressed with what you get for the money. 140 odd pieces if I remember right. Alot of these are just ladder pieces and such but you do get a decent sized castle out of it. My guess is you will probably want 2 packs to make a good intimidating castle. One box is certainly playable, but you get more of a fort than a castle (Area is alright, but only being only 10 levels high robs it of some coolness!). Like I said very good value, especially considering the price of building the equivalent sized castle out of the old MK castle pieces.
As for rules, nothing too horrendously complicated. Mostly the same rules as bridges. Stairs work just like climbing levels on normal terrain except obviously you can climb higher than your height. The walls themselves are indestructible, if you want to get in you have to go in through the door by busting it down....Or just fly over it.
The stats for the door: Life = 10 Defense = 4 REINFORCED DEFENSE: When rolling defense dice against a normal attack from small or medium figures, add 2 automatic shields to whatever is rolled. Against large and huge figures add 1 automatic shield to whatever is rolled.
On a related note, the scenario packed inside is capture the flag, with the flag starting inside the castle. The game is packed with only one flag, and it's Jandar's flag. So by inference....4 more different castles must be coming!!!
BTW I think ice will be a bit more playable, as it doesn't kill you...

I stopped at the store this morning on my way to work -- Didn't find the castle (though they had space set aside on the shelf for it) When I got mine it was the only thing on a barren Heroscape shelf. I don't know if they only stock 1 or 2 at a time or they just sell like mad....Hopefully the latter! At any rate I'll keep my eyes peeled for any more popping up around here.

I'd be more than happy to contribute to a HS Thread. The UK only really has the basic set on sale and I've managed to import a few boosters from the States.
Gaming experience is limited to the basics but its a joy to play and such a great game to look at.

You didn't buy mageknight walls, did you? The only thing I pull up as walls on e-bay are Mageknight sets mislabeled as Heroscape. Not a biggie if you did, the MK castles will work fine as terrain, they just don't inter-lock with each other.

Got my Heroscape "Walls and Building" Pack the other day. Its billed as an expansion set that allows you to construct "towers, walls, walkways, embankments and more." I'll list the contents:
21 wall sections and 21 bases. 50 battlement pieces. 1 doorway. 22 ladder pieces. 21 single hex walkway pieces. 1 9-hex walkway piece. 1 7-hex walkway piece. 1 flag.
I wonder if anyone with the Fortress set can let me know if that is vastly different to the contents of that set?
There's also a rule booklet and a couple of scenarios.
I'm really pleased with it. Heroscape is such a visually appealing game and this is going to make it soooo much better.

I wonder if anyone with the Fortress set can let me know if that is vastly different to the contents of that set? There is only one set. The fortress set you speak of is the walls and tower box you now hold. That's all there is! Now go buy two ;D -Vladd

Got that - didn't look at the box closely enough. I'm just relieved to have got hold of the Fortress at long last! As for a second - maybe when there's a UK distributor for the Set - we only get the Base Set ($50) and 1 expansion sold over here. With postage, the Fortress cost me $70, so a second set may have to wait...

Yikes! That's a LOT. I still haven't found one at walmart, but for $25 it's worth the wait, I think.
