I like those rules! I especially like the restriction of LE Julz who is every bit as broken as MFP from my point of view.

Julz and Merc Faction pride are really unpleasant together. I like those rules. Especially the No Ares one

A pretty good set of rules to work with. I did shed a brief tear for LE Julz but life goes on... So RHDM looks good as there's no Merc FP to put a dent into it. No way of cancelling terrain/arty/MDFA or wrecking non-BA inf with PCCs. The Arty systems are back in for those that can remember how to turtle. A straight fight using VC1-3. No quirky SA's or dangerous re-rolling or extra damage FPs. Finally, no MCC to get Dagmar into the Emperor Vulture. Right, off to get Kenneth and Bazil...

I completely missed the no PCs bit. Not sure how I feel about that. They add so much strategy to the game, I'd hate to play without them anymore unless it was a one-off game (in which I think they are pretty pointless as one person inevitably perfect days).

I dont make rules, i just play them...
Julz surprised me and this setup means thet single most played unit will be Seka + a light mech you need 300 points of mech. And Seka alone is to cheap :-p

Yep, count me in for a Seka + build. If I had access to 2 more, I rekon we'd all be bringing her along!! Now that Joe can't bring his Ares, he's going for a POG-tastic experience. Its easy enough to play for a 10-year old. Mine's a Seka+BR Soli Combo. Tom is hung up all over Kenneth Medchelke. Having said all that, as the prizes for the event aren't exactly stellar (winner gets a Solitude Atlas), I may well go for the scrubby approach and go JF Faction Pure - nothing to cancel/shoot through blocking at the MDFA Formation Team... Can't wait to get over there - Mechwarrior and Belgian Beer, now there's a good combo .

JF will do really well against Seka's Kenneth.. Oh the memories of that piece! He does bring back memories!

Very interesting rules. I'm going to consider using them at my next event . . .
Black Rose could really shine in this environment - no PCs to remove blocking, cancel JJ, or cancel DFAs!

Got back from the Belgian Event which took place in Ghent yesterday. There were 11 for MW and I ended up playing Tom (my own son) in round 1. All that way and look what happens... Never mind, Tom beats me and I play a Beligian player in round 2 and loose that. Tom meets the Belgian No 1 and looses to him. Not the Clare family's proudest day of MW battles... Due to a late start, we had to call it a day there and leave for the ferry. I played a Black Rose/PH1 army with a couple of Sylph and some ATVs. Not great - Black Rose's glass jaw was exposed all too often - even with Findlay and ECM Suite she can still be hit by a LOT of pieces. Tom took Alpha/Kerensky/IT, BR Soli/Graves/Decoy, CNC/HK ATVs and a TTL drop. It was an "Elite tribute army" according to Tom! We both decided not to take Seka's Pride as there would be hundreds of them present - there was actually only 1 played. The army that beat me in round 2 was a BR Soli, ROTS Violator, X Axis and Phelan Ward (w evade). Just as I'm setting up to get stuck in and have my army exposed/ready to move up, I roll a 6 and he locks Black Rose up, kills my PH1 and, althrough I get 6 clicks of damage into Phelan, that's the game over. I was really hoping to get 3 rounds in. We got there 45 mins before the start, the start was delayed by some 45 mins and, with a 15 min break between rounds 1 and 2, we ran out of time. That made it 2 rounds in 2hrs 25 minutes. Got to meet up with Elite which was good and also Tom (Mr Pringles - Worlds runner-up in 2004). Always good to meet up with players from other countries, and this was no exception. I know Elite stayed on (although he was ill and looked pretty rough, so I hope he made it through), so I'd be interested to see how the day went. With the Va Factory Set on show, I did wonder if we'd been mis-informed about the prize support (supposed to be Solitude). A good weekend made great by meeting up with Ian Pelgrim and Brinxter in Arnhem. A great venue - Tom and I were really jealous. Played some good games - but going over to play the Dutch at MW is a bit like volunteering to take on a Lion in the Collosseum! I should have seen the problems with my BR army when it went 1 and 2 on the Saturday - never mind. We also got the see the MARKET GARDEN para jumps as well as touring some of the sites around the battlefield. Hopefully Elite can add some more as to how the day went on.

Thanks for the report Phil.
Sorry to hear you and Tom didn't have better luck! It's always a bit of a downer to travel a long way only to play someone that you play all the time.
I look forward to hearing how the tournament finished out!

I am interesting in Hearing also. Hopefully Elite is doing better I know Elite, Brinxter and all of those guys are great. It is truly unfortunate you had to play your son first round! Black Rose does have an incredible glass jaw and I have seen it everytime I have played her outside of Sealed

Hiya,
Well I was indeed sick the days before and didnt meet up with Phil, Ian and Brinxter to practice, which I regret. I almost decided against going to Belgium but I realy wanted to go so I went.
I took an army which was geared on beating seka and the expected BR Soli. I played Alpha + Ryu with eyes of the dragon it nullifies evade and decoy at 8 inches. I added some atv's and 1 sprint drop.
1st match vs. Seka and BR Soli. However I did everything wrong and was soundly defeated. I did learn the my concentration was not up to par and my decisions where extremly flawed.
2nd match Bye...
3th Match I played a fellow country man he played CW Thor + Kuro Ha, I was fighting around Kuro Ha but beside 1 crit hit I didnt throw anything over a 7 in more than 12 die rolls. I lost.....
4th Match vs Duke + decoy + Highl Gosshawk and a highl mars tank, I had little trouble here as I out ranged him and after crippling his gosshawk and duke i had some trouble getting through the armour of the mars tank. I won...
Not much of a day for me as i was not in my best shape. Note to self heal up to 100 % instead of 80-90 % before playing anything.
Good thing was 2 fellow dutchman ended up on the 2nd and 3th spot.
I did have some new ideas for new armies.
And i wonder at the interview thing being pod casted soon.
regards E130

Who was second and third? Sorry to hear about you being sick! I know I go and play sometimes when I shouldn't. That need to play is pretty crazy at times:)
