Anyone got any good questions they are thinking of putting to the MW/Topps guys during what (should be) next week's chat? I think the timings not good for the UK (and I need my beauty sleep..!). I would like to know about the future of National Tournaments (and Worlds/Euros etc) and therefore if WK will continue to support them. If they are going to carrying on, will the format be "as is" or will they become SOLARIS events? Can we expect a return to MW releases "by the case load" with a spread of pieces or factions? I'm not say that the 3 releases a year offering you the chance to collect some real rubbish should stay, but I wonder if these "Themed Packs" are now it? Not a bad move if they get them right. Heaven help us if they include in the Theme Packs the same pieces they touted on the Sqn Cards.. How do they see SOLARIS playing - as a side event or trying to take the place of the 50 minute constructed? Will there be a limit on the number of times Elite can field Alpha?Should the Euro Event be complimented by Regional Events in the States? (even if WK ditch their support to the Euro event, it will still run, as it's origins were from within the Euro player community and not from WK USA). I gather we'll get some info from tonight's chat activation.

LOL a format question on Nationals, Europeans and Worlds should be asked I mean we only have like 9 months of preparation it is cutting it a bit short.....

I'm more interested to find out if WK will actually be running Nats/Euros?worlds at all in the future. There are the top levels of the constructed game and many of the games played at clubs do, ultimately, feed into Nats Qualifiers and beyond. Remove the top level and it could affect a significant amount of local play. Anyway, with 9 months to go, I would have thought you'd be down to your last 3 army builds... . Brinxter, does that sound right?

The local tournament scene is pretty bad here (northwest Alabama), and the main reason I'm hanging on is to go to next year's Nats or hopefully Worlds. We'll see . . .

My impression is that WK has every intention to continue running Nats / Worlds. What form that will take is anyone's guess, especially with a format change to Solaris in the works.

Solaris sounds like 1on1 to me. I prefer a skirmish game. I dont see what is wrong with the present game.
Maybe it isnt a growth market anymore but there other ways to solve that.
I hope we get some answers.....
1 if there is Worlds ? 2 What Format ? 2a 1on1 solaris ? 2b 600 points we know and love 2c resticted and if yes what sets ? 2d unresticted ?

I will be happy just knowing that there will be a Worlds next year, Elite. I'd be absolutely shocked if they gave us any more info than that.
Although, they might mention the place of Solaris gaming in the new approved play system, and whether Worlds will be Solaris or not. Maybe they will have both - I could see a combination of sealed, constructed, and Solaris. I could also see restricted rounds followed by unrestricted rounds. But I doubt they will give us much else . . .

I doubt solaris will be 1 on 1 -- It sounds more like a big table outing to me.

Just managed to get a link to the transcript of last night's State of the Union (did anyone stay up for that one? It was 0200 local for me and that's 0300 local for mainland Europe). Headline news is:
Non-blind action packs for 2007 will replace boosters. This will be the way MW is marketed for 2007.
First up will be a Davion Action Pack with the usual mix of 2 + 2 + 2 mechs.
Once the Davion action pack is out, the next ones will contain mechs, inf, vehs and cards and should retail around $25-30. Action packs could be released as a set number of points (600, 900, 1200 etc). As a result of Action Packs, the sealed format will change in 07. No more Call to Arms events after Wolf Strike.
Next will be 2 Champion Action Packs with pilots from last year's Worlds Top 4.
Solaris rules could be web published in May/June 07 with the Solaris release taking place at Gencon Indy in Aug 07.
Next year's Worlds will be a SOLARIS event. Entry into the Worlds through qualifiers (the States may get regional events, not just 1 big Nats - no news as yet about the RoW). Also, winning certain tournaments at WK supported events will also give you entry into the Worlds. All this to be sorted in Jan 07.
Solaris will be Mech v Mech and the Solaris action packs will not contain vehs or inf.
The Warwolf LE from the MW book has been cancelled.
Tournament LEs will continue as will normal MW events.
No plans for releasing an updated rulebook.
I think that was about it. Anyone else pick other stuff up?

So Solaris is 1on1 action ?
Ill see what the rules are,
I never played it. But if MW Worlds is a Solaris event and it is 1on1 ill probaly bow out.
Not good news from my perspective tbh.

Phil said it was mech on mech -- he did not say 1 on 1 (though I haven't read the chat, so I don't know how WK phrased it).
There is a difference there. I am still betting solaris will not be 1 on 1.

Hmm I really have been trying to stay out of the MW discussion. Solaris as Worlds is not something I would attend. With Multiple people in a game, it is a political battle. How you make alliances and all is very critical to winning in Solaris 7. It also comes down to a couple of dice rules. (although many MW games have done that also) Solaris 7 has very little of the tactical appeal of MW:AOD. It brings it closer to Heroclix type slugfest game. Perhaps that is what the market is looking for though.
