It was pretty interesting the whole charging thread on the Wizkids site. I had pretty much glossed over it until I saw you on posting there Zxqueb! Hopefully it will be in this month's FAQ! I would have ruled it the other way because that is how the rules read!

I hope that we don't see a lot of "rulings" like this made at Worlds.. It would seriously put some stress on me

It is a very strange ruling to my mind. I doubt that there will be too many of those at worlds, as I think the high end players are all playing the same way, basically. It takes a question out of nowhere to cause these sorts of rulings generally. Jan and I (for example) were totally wrong about how Kelly wanted it played.
Still, for simplicity's sake, I think it is a bad ruling.

I agree. They need to write it more plainly if that is what they intend. I am truly concerned about getting hit by some rulings like this during a Worlds game. I remember watching the First Worlds Tournament for about 1/2 hour and saw 3 bad calls. I think they are going to be tremendously better this year! Rules Arbiter will be there and we will be able to have direct access. I am afraid of ruling like the above. It goes counter to what is written but they actually had different intentions. In a 50 minute game I guess I will just take the ruling and move along

I wouldn't worry too much. Between Rain and Southpaw, the calls are likely to be very good. Plus if you have an issue with something, you will be able to get a second opinion no sweat.

I think it will be pretty good. I am truly frightened about the special event rules.. It is going to throw me for a loop!

Were there any unusual rulings at Worlds, Baw?

No sir.. No unusual rulings at all (YAY) There is one rule that still doesn't quite make sense to me but I guess they really intend it since I heard it from Rain's on mouth. If you are in base with someone and fire at the unit in base and out of base contact there is no fire modifier against the unit out of base contact! That seems pretty weird to me. I have heard but not really seen an instance to utilize it before! baw

That was one of our exploit finding week one of AoD rules, how can you not have come across it yet Baw?

I actually have heard people talking about it on the boards. I just hadn't had any need of using it yet! I understood how the rules read. I knew the rule, I was aware of it.. I just don't "understand" it. It just doesn't make any sense when rationalizing it fluffy style. I might even had a couple occasions to benefit from it but I never used it.. Sort of like a blind spot. I think I was part of the discussion back when AOD came saying I didn't understand that rule!

All this, and he STILL manages a 160-some odd winning streak. ;D

LOL... People here don't tend to use a lot of infantry. I tend to kill them before I get close enough to attack me and I need to fire out of base. I also tend to not like staying in base contact with someone.. I am going to be playings some sealed soon. Maybe that will end my streak and make you happy Actually one of the battlemasters who was running two venues has decided to quit. I have had to pick up two more venues to battlemaster at. I guess I won't be increasing my win bonus that much any more because I won't be playing as much
