Southpaw's just put up a clarification that means the good old WH CBA don't get a click of damage when unloading from a VTOL at cruising. They merely require to have JJs, rather than actually using them.
I'm pretty sure the only other JJ equipped, 10 inch range inf piece was the CNC Elite Thunderbird which wheighs in a a whopping 5 points more.

It is an interesting ruling. I will have to remember that one although I am not sure when it would ever be utilized it is something good to know!

That's silly. Sure, I could come up with several ways to argue that this made sense... but it doesn't. And people thought Rain made poor rulings. Geez. It may be silly, but remember that Southpaw doesn't write the rules. He has to go by the letter of the rules. In this case, "use" is defined by what is on the SEC. Disembarking from transports is not listed as a use of JJ on the SEC, so it is not technically a use.
While I agree that it is a bit silly that they aren't "used" when jumping out of a cruising VTOL, I also think Southpaw made the only ruling that he can with the rules as written. Perhaps this will need to be an addition in the next re-write of the SEC.

I concur that it doesn't make "fluff sense" and if I would have made a ruling before SouthPaw made his ruling.. I would have said they were used. He is reading according to strictest interpretation of the rules which sometimes gets us into these hairy positions. We have no choice but trying to interpret the rules. The only option is to fix it during the Next Major Release or FAQ the Jump Jets special equipment SEC wording.

Hey are you saying this board is bored? as in boring ? (LOL) I think he is just feeling the frustration of not making any logical sense from a "Real Life" view but it does technically meet the letter of the rules. I have said other places.. Before the clarification was issued I would have without hesitation said yes the SU-JJ were used because it just made sense. Sometimes we get into trouble because we do what we think is right rather than picking through the rules. It would be nice if the rules were cleaner and more logical but that is not an easy task as you have first hand experience with! keep working on straightening out the rules and making the better. I know you can do it
