Sorry if this is just beating Trevor's drum again - but I just read the info on PVP tournaments. How in the hell do we find one near us? Is there a list somewhere, or do I just have to hope that my nearest venue happened to buy $300 (wholesale) of this product on a whim?

How in the hell do we find one near us? That is an excellent question. Keep banging Trev's drum. Z

Actually, I ran a search yesterday for any HaloClix event in the United States. It came back with a list of 32 events being held in something like 6 venues, including PVPs. Unfortunately, none were near me. But this might help some of you out.

So they have a halo actionclix category for searches now? I haven't looked in a couple days, so that's a good thing if so. Or did you search in some other way?

Yep, I checked the HaloClix box and then selected "New" under event status, and left everything else blank. That brought up the events.
Like you, I had tried earlier and failed. They must have added this feature recently.
I now have a local store that sells HaloClix, which may be willing to let me run Halo events there in the future. But we're too late for the PVP.

I must be really stupid. I don't see a haloclix button in the events button. The best I can find is "actionclix" under the advanced search. And when I click it, I basically just get a list of all the venues in Ohio. The only halo events I find are still listed under heroclix.

Nevermind. I found it. I generally look for events under the "in my area" tab, which is still not updated with halo actionclix. I see that they have updated the events->tournaments tab.
And of course, the only PVP tournament is 2+ hours away. Not going to happen.
Why does WK have 2 seperate and different search engine pages?! The world may never know.

I suspect that my regular venue actually ordered enough product to qualify for the PVP - I've seen at least $200 walk out of the store. But because they did not know about it, they did not sign up for the PVP! ARGH!!

That's too bad. I'm not sure why they are going to such great lengths to hurt tournament scenes for this game.
At any rate, thanks for the help. I'll have to keep an eye out for more tournaments as time goes on.

It appears that the venue may have signed up for the PVP after all - the first person I spoke with was wrong. The venue owner has asked WK to confirm, but not heard back yet.
I also asked on the WK forum if I can continue to run HaloClix or SW Pocketmodel events after I retire as a MW Battlemaster. He told me that I need to keep the MW Envoy account active in order to run the other game lines. While that shouldn't be a big deal for me personally, it sounds odd that a person who LOVES Halo or Star Wars, but doesn't have much interest in the other games, must run something else in order to run his/her favorite game.
Man, this whole thing is just . . . well . . . weird to me. After all their years in business, all the experience gained from Mage Knight, MW, HeroClix, Pirates, etc etc. - you'd think that they would have things figured out better by now.

If the Approved Play fiasco wasn't enough, I've just printed off my 6 page FAQ document I realise that not all of it are rules FAQs as such (there's a lot on scenarios and maps) but "grenades" looks like one that may run on for a while and it seems that the Halo LOS rules are confusing the Heroclix players I may well meet up with the UK/Europe WK rep at the weekend and and will give him some feedback on the AP situation.

Took Tom and Joe to a Halo event in London at the weekend. We played 4 rounds of Swiss each using 3 x 4 figure boosters.
Tom and I made the last 4 with Tom going on to win. He received a grunt card signed by the game designer and in all we walked away with 6 of the active camo pieces. Basis stats are the same as for the normal figures except that they cost 100 points. The active camo gives them a DV of 18 which is a really nice change for a Spartan!

Just posted to the WizKids site: the launch of the Organized Play program: www.wizkidsgames.com/wk_article.asp?cid=41633. I guess they might be supporting SW and Halo after all. But not much meat there - just that you can now record casual games? Is this the future for all game lines?
