...And the itinerary is thus:
12:00 - 3:00 MissGuided and Zxqueb play Navia, Knightmare Chess, and discuss how lame Vladd and Warlord are for wanting to save the World of Warcraft.
3:00 - 4:30 Nexus Ops
4:30 - 5:30 Vegas Showdown
5:30 - 6:00 - Eat Something.
6:00 - 9:00 - Perikles
9:00 - 12:00 - Age of Mythology
12:00 - 2:00 - A.D.D. games (Titan Arena, Chrononauts, Fairy Tale etc...)
Any questions or comments should be forwarded to someone who gives a rat's ass what you think, certainly not me....

Indeed -- You two are so very lame.
I had no idea that you had Nexus Ops -- I've been wanting to try that one out.
I'm going to bring Carcassonne for the anti-vladdicon (or is that bizarrocon?) since the Geek says the 1337 way to play is 2 player and I've not done that.

1337? Wow, and here I spent the 12 to 3 block of my time talking bad about Vladd and Warlord when I could have gone on about THE GEEK and all its followers.
Carcassonne is a different beast when played with just the base set as I got beaten soundly on both games. I'd like to say I was distracted by my children building snowmen in the frozen tundra of our front yard wearing only pajamas and mismatched gloves and therefore couldn't focus on the game....but Zxqueb is just really good at Carcassonne.
Nexus Ops was great and I'd like to play it again. Though the stupid rock spider things need to die. Zxqueb wins this one as well...
I lost Vegas Showdown....finally. I thought the game was too boring to play with me winning all the time so I had planned to let Warlord win, as it was his first time playing the game, but I think he was still working out battle strategies for saving the world from the night previous as he dropped the ball and let Vladd win instead.
We seem to have all missed the A.D.D. version of the evening due to Perikles running long. It was a great game with many, many levels of screw your neighbor thrown in. Congratulations to Zxqueb for winning and making Vladd come in 3rd.
It was a fun day everyone, thanks for the Chinese food and the good company. Catch you all again soon.

1337? Wow, and here I spent the 12 to 3 block of my time talking bad about Vladd and Warlord when I could have gone on about THE GEEK and all its followers. You could have, but I wouldn't have been right there with you adding fuel to the fire. (Though I'd be one of the roasted. I can't help the love I have for boardgamegeek). Bah! Excuses, excuses! I'm dying to play with the abbey and mayor now. It seems like it'll add some coolness. I think if we can swing a gamesday around christmas, we should definitely do an all expansion Carcassonne (including towers!). It's good to be the king. I liked the game - I think it'll play much faster next time with us all knowing what we are doing. There is something satisfying about building armies of dudes and throwing them together in a grand melee. I'm still annoyed that Vladd edged me out by one point. I was going for a clean sweep! There will be time enough to get back to the add games. Besides we need to play Fairy Tale again as that is the only game that Dave has been able to win in recent games day memory! Z

Once again, I'd like to send out thanks to Matt for making the epic journey to Fort Vladd for an evening of gaming and Warcraft bashing...
As for the games played:
Nexus Ops: This was better than I realized when played with other adults. I have been playing this with Sean, but lets face it; a two player game with an 8 year old is an entirely different animal than playing with hyper competitive blood thirsty adults. Good times, I wish I would have pulled it out at an earlier con!
Vegas Showdown: Great as usual. Made better with a win by yours truly, with a casino that clearly was not going to work. What the hell was I thinking? Apparently about what kind of dance to do when I Pwn'd you all!
Perikles: this seemed to go over pretty well, despite the fact that it was way late hitting the table and Warlord was far more interested in watching "300" than listening to the rules. The more I have thought about this game over the past few days, the more I am intrigued by the layers of strategy in what is a fairly simple (rules wise) game. It runs a little long for what it is, but hopefully we get a chance to bust it out again in the future.
Till next time, -Vladd

Once again, I'd like to send out thanks to Matt for making the epic journey to Fort Vladd for an evening of gaming and Warcraft bashing... I never mind the journey there, it's the one home at 2-3am that sucks! Yep, that'll teach me to bad mouth your strategies. Aww.. heck, I'm going to do it anyway! On building alone, you would have lost (10 points for filled casino is a LOT) if not for the double nightclub that you claimed for a song. Now if you had built it with an eye to completing sections (and it looked like you had the ability to do that), the game would have been a landslide Vladd victory rather than a 1 point squeeker. That design ALMOST cost you the game. As with Nexus ops, I think it'll go faster next time. We had the whole rules rundown that took a while... not to mention the time spent on the table flip defusion midgame. And I agree, there were some good interactions that happened and some more subltle strateges over the course of the game which will be interesting to explore. The social / political aspect was cool too. It's a good table talk game. Heck, I even liked the dice mechanic *gasp*. In other news, I keep looking at the Duel of Ages box which is sitting here and which I've never played. It is for 2-16 players, so I'm thinking that'll need to come out one of these times. Z

Hey now, I think I won Chrononauts once. But yeah, I don't win much. I do my own thing 60% of the time and if it wins, so be it. When I play games you have all played before its hard to try and get the leg up on you all. Perikles was fun as I got to yell things aloud in good fashion. Maybe we'll have to see if I can scrounge a game out of christmas presents to add to our schedule. Nexus Ops looks like alot of fun, I want to try that sometime. Maybe next time around we can have Twilight Impericon as that game is itching in the back of my brain...or its the goverment implant ticking again?

From Wikipedia: "Pwn is a slang term that implies domination and/or humiliation of a rival. It may have sprung from the similar term "owned". It is used primarily in the Internet gaming culture to taunt an opponent that has just been soundly[/u] defeated."[/i] I'd like to point out that a 1 point win is not pwning anyone...at all....not even close. I will have to be honest with you all and say that my right eye twitched a little when I read this imagining the immense concentration it is going to take to keep all the pieces straight. Oh yes. I am more than game. Of course if I win this one I will have to bring it up constantly. Warlord "I beat Onyxia in a 13 hour marathon of WoW!" MissGuided "Yeah, so? I won Mega Carcassonne." Zxqueb "I won another Scarab and sold it on eBay for $500!" MissGuided *yawn* "Scarab sold on eBay...$500 -Caracassonne *ahem*base set...$25 - Little ol' me winning Mega Carcassonne...priceless.If someone has a truck or van I'll go get the big table and we can game till we are blue in the face. I'm sure Vladd's mom can get us a deal on adult diapers from the nursing home....you know, cut down on "down time" waiting for people to come back from the bathroom will equal more game time.
