We all knew it was coming.
------------------------------------------------------ Dear Dreamblade Players:
As you prepare your warbands for Augusts’ Dreamblade 50K championship, many of you may be wondering about the future of Dreamblade Organized Play (OP).
When we designed this game, we envisioned highly competitive organized play as one of the key things that makes the game great, and we provided robust organized play with Dreamblade. Despite our best efforts however, we didn’t get enough tournament players, and we can’t continue supporting the game with the same depth of OP that we’ve offered in the past. As a result, we will no longer be supporting the 1K and 10K events. The August 50K event will continue as scheduled, as will Edge Tournaments. We love this game and we know you do too. It’s a painful change but a necessary one.
Night Fusion, Dreamblade’s fifth set, releases in September and promises to be our most exciting set to date. It includes a number of new features that we have been reserving for Dreamblade’s second year. The success of Night Fusion will be very telling for Dreamblade as we gauge demand for the future. We hope fans come out in droves to support it!
Thank you for your passionate support of Dreamblade and your patience during this time. We hope to have the opportunity to continue to bring you this innovative and revolutionary game experience for some time to come. __________________ -Jonathan Tweet Lead Designer, Dreamblade Wizards of the Coast

Well, I'd like to say this could never happen, but I'd be a fool from past expiriences to say so. We all knew this was coming. I just thought they would have waited until after the 50k and the next set Night Fusion. It really boggles my mind as to why they did it BEFORE the set comes out. Night Fusion will tank SO BAD. I for one (as most know) bought so little of this game and I won't even consider to now. Way to finish off a perfectly good season with a letdown. Alot of frowny faces will be seen very soon. And another one bites the dust. Mage Knight, MechWarrior, now Dreamblade. Can we ever get a game that is canceled without them Bullsh*tting us first? All I need is VS to be cancelled and I can personally retire from buying into new games. Thank god Star Wars still rules.

Eh--- The good thing is that this means is that I can buy a playset of night fusion for $1.50 in 6 months. Yay. Go dead collectable games!

Well at least I can say it was a good run while it lasted. I got to meet some cool people, piss off a few people, and get my named mentioned a few times on some articles on wotc website. I don't regret getting into the game, it at the very least gave me a good break from magic and got me into mechwarrior (which may be dead but I can at least find events that have people show up for).

We should at least give wotc some props for at least being honest with us, and there could be a silver lining, I know a few people that said that due to the announcement they aren't planning to make the trip to indy for the 50k, which could mean an easier shot for the money. To be fair though, dreamblade will have about the same amount of support if not more with the edge events than many other games.

You guys really amaze me. 'Nuff said. I really don't know why your amazed. Dreamblade was the new hotness Mike. If offered us money and competition on high level that most of us just could not get anywhere else. Maybe if Wizkids did things differently we'd still be gung-ho for them. I for one am not upset to see Dreamblade go the way of the VS System (aka pulled support). It allows for a more casual game-play enviornment, pulls the sharks away, and decreases the stress level. Granted Dreamblade is not fun outside of the competitive setting. Giant Mechs made-for-killing are uber awesome; Gutsoup Golems and Zombie Cops aren't cool. They are useful for about 2% of anything else outside of the game. I am all for playing Games I like. Hell, thats why I got into the Star Wars CCG 10 years late. A game I enjoy for more than 1 reason. So in retro-spect, I'm not sad to see it leave. Its one less expense I lose even though I never spent alot anyways. It had its chance, but the Collectable Mini's market seems to have hit critical mass a year or 2 ago and its downward spiral caught Dreamblade on the way down. Cost combined with storage space just isn't economical anymore, at least for those of us that don't have houses and well paying jobs.

If offered us money and competition on high level that most of us just could not get anywhere else. Maybe if Wizkids did things differently we'd still be gung-ho for them. This is a key point, Mike. DBM was designed and marketed as a tournament game. It attracted tournament focused gamers. And while it's fun to play a game or two here and there, it is certainly not worth expanding your collection much beyond the point we all are only for fun games. Yeah a booster here and there, and maybe more if the price bottoms out, but certainly not at $15 a booster. Without the tournament scene, the game is effectively "dead". Even if it's not in practice. Another good point. Mech and Vs have the benefit of being about big killy robots and superheroes. Those things are things we have ties to and enjoy beyond the game. Not so much the dreamblade stuff. Although noble is still a rocking sculpt. I AM sad to see DBM go. Edges were always kind of lackluster, but were a nice testing ground for the BIG tournaments. It's the 1ks and up where I have my most fun (and my most heartache). But I still will have fun with the game, just not nearly as often. It was nice to meet some new folks and good to get Greg into Mech. Muahhahah. Z

Ugh... This stinks! Well I've decided to go the way of Jesse and say F*CK WOTC! I'm off to The Spoils Webpage... Ugh, the Spoils has no entertainment value whatsoever. Why would you ever want to play that game? I'd rather start caring about VS again. If not, Star Wars is awesome. I'll make you a "Rebels Do Stuff" Deck Lumps.
