Just to let you know that I've put out a Mechwarrior Podcast. There are a couple of short episodes which I put together as a technology demonstrator more than a planned event. The address is: click-of-heat.jellycast.comI hope you get to listen to them both. I'm looking for feedback and ideas for future episodes.

Awesome Job! I enjoyed listening to it! You had some good insights. I was a little suprised that you didn't mention the similarity between the NC Clan Battle Armor and the SC (dark age) battle armor It was very enjoyable listening to your thoughts and insights. It was very clear and easily understandable. You weren't too British I think the army ideas were great! They covered a lot of different types and had good thoughts. I think the Atlas army is a little more dangerous than you do but I have seen it played a fair bit. The atlas moves at 8 which is pretty good. that is a topic for a different area though. Did you have a script or a plan what you were going to talk about. It had a very nice flow to it. I recommend everyone go and listen to it baw

I can't wait to hear it. As it is, I don't have sound on my computer at work and haven't had the time to sit down with it at home yet. I may have a chance tonight after my MW tournament!

Thanks for the feedback - there was no script as such but I did have notes on the sections that I wanted to cover so it wasn't totally off the cuff! I knew there was something about those CBA that looked familiar - I used 2 SC ones to win the UK title!! I must test against the Atlas a little more - UK Nats is 450 so I think there's a problem with finding a balanced force. I'm looking to use a software programme that will let me edit/merge recordings, so hopefully the quality will improve. I just hope WK take me up on my offer to do an on-line review of the Ares !!!

Actually I think the NC Clan Battle armor are better than the SC battle armor. Starting off with 2 damage with flamers is impressive. They do look good. I don't think WK is going to ask me to review the Ares They should ask you. You did a great job. I was impressed. I know if I tried I would not be able to keep focus like you did. You were concise and kept the pace well. Waiting on the next one

It took me a few minutes to find episode 2 Another good episode with good insights. I do indeed concur about the feel of the game. I hope it isn't going away from strategy and tactics! Solitude can have impressive moments. He is a piece to be concerned about. He is all you eggs in one basket but he is an impressive basket I still haven't played him yet but I have seen him played and I am always concerned about him. Very good insights and I have the same feelings about RHD. Some of the mechs are usable but I really don't care for the infantry! Another great episode and I thought only my wife complained about a 40 year old guy playing with plastic pieces.

I finally listened to your podcast... OUTSTANDING work!! I really enjoyed it and thought you were dead on with both your reviews and your tactics. I don't really think of basing as an order starvation tactic, but it certainly CAN be. One that I would add to your list is to threaten multiple units at a time (not talking about arty here since you covered that). In particular, drops and Antip mechs work well to force multiple things to retreat or take massive damage.
Great job!

Just to say that episode 3 is up (keep using the "next" button to get you there). A quickie this week to go over some of the options for using Vanguard in booster drfat/sealed.

Another good podcast, Phil. You have a pretty good assessment of the Vanguard pieces. I think a particularly nice piece in sealed is the LI HzasdmkniWhatever Assault Tank. With a good range and 5 damage streaks, you have the opportunity to tag some infantry for an early lead while keeping your tank protected. Because of the streaks (and lack of arty), it is certainly a better option than the other big tanks. I'm also fond of Danai Liao.. She's brutal if you can couple her with some fast basers and blocking terrain.
I wish you luck in UK nationals. I tend to disagree with you about running a heavy mech + support. In 450, it's just too many eggs in one basket for my liking. I prefer to spread out the threats. In 600, a bigger mech becomes much more viable since you can support it better.
Whatever you decide, I really look forward to hearing how it all plays out (and I hope to see you at Worlds this August!).
Again, best of luck to you and Tom!

WOW! you are a BRAVE man TJPANDV. The little bit at the end of your PODcast. That would make some good blackmail material for your son to use against you

Whew! I thought you were going to get into real trouble with that last dig ;P another great Click of Heat. I guess you can review Wolf STrike next time with all the units they have shown us! I really can't believe they have put AA units out. Vtols are severely hampered anyways!
