On a small side note, I was the only one to defeat the new Dutch Champion. I did lose 2 games and own my ranking if it counted was only 6th.
Rutger/Brinxter destroyed me.

Elite, with all those TTLs and IT cards floating around, I'd never have guessed that these guys may have been influenced by you!! The WH Thor is a nice piece - I presume the black armour helped against all those TTLs POGs? Let us all know the format and some battle reports would be good. |

I played my Euro army
Alpha
CNC PH1

My 2 lost matches
Vs Brinxter
Rutger played Requim, he thought it was a funny army. If this is the way WK will go I will quit this game. Basicly it is an luck engine.
He runs foward, I hit him with my PH1 he assaults my bishop and hits. He used the coolant pod. I throw a 1 he threw an 14 so my bishop is detroyed. he jumps away.
I hit him indirect. My Ph1 jumps after him hitting it. Then I threw a 1 on heat so i shut down. He hits my CNC PH1 again I throw a 2 doning 8 damage to my PH1. I have to charge. I do 4 damage. I shut down. I miss all my restart rolls on the PH1 and Alpha. Basicly he destroys me.
I honestly cant say it was not a fun match. Losing is one thing I dont mind if my opponents is lucky but this match was ridicilous. Rutger did not threw less than 14. I missed all heat rolls etc.
What this mech comes down to if you are lucky you destroy a piece.
My 2nd loss was vs Ian who had to beat me in order to have some chance in making top 2. He openend badly but I missed that opening shot. He then shoots Alpha for 9. My TTL do some damage my PH1 then does an asault on his NC I miss again, my TTL do some damage in the meantime I criple his mjolnir he destroys alpha I lose the match.
I can complain on bad dice but that happens at least this was a match.

How many people were at the Dutch Nationals? Were there any unusual army types seen?

We are a small Nation, and this will sound strange to you americans but the Nationals where in a corner of our country and we where missing some players.
There where only 11 Contestants. I expected more. Maybe fathersday had something to do with it.
I belief 8 players used 16+ inch Mechs 2 players used Assaults. 1 used mediums.
Unusual armies a Empire + Marauder army ending up dead last.
2 armies with Merc FP 1 one of those became first.
2 Armies with true Grit, they ended up in the bottom half.
I dont know what is unusual, I find the Britisch National winner unusual.
The Requim army was unusual, but I see it as a 1 trick pony.

For what its worth, if i knew Elite brought his EC army i would have brought mine My first game was really, REALLY bad... i'll explain why. Saturday: Went out to dinner with my folks (and had a couple ) After that a birthday party, where i met a really nice girl. (and a couple more) I left at around 2 o' clock and i walked her home (5 mins walk from there, and 15 minutes on my bike to get home) Got home at around 5 a.m. (dont ask, just talked for a reaaaaaalllly long time) Sunday: Alarm went at around 7 or 8 2 hours drive to the venue. (blegh) 1st game: I totally lost/gave away my first game (halfway through i noticed a unit i actually forgot to deploy) (this guy won the tourney) 2nd game: a guy with CNC FP and a thor + Vet NC, he got owned basicly. 3rd game: Elite130 yup, i had a lot of lucky rolls... 4th game: I had some MAJOR lucky rolls against Zahrezz My first shot at his vet NC and Bishop (wich was loaded with a kelswa) was a 16 (crit) (this was like, 3 mins into the game) He rolled a 4 and a 5 on my pilot ability (bah) he got lucky to and blasted Requiem with his mech and kelswa. Rolled another 16 or something, he passed both rolls again (ffs) Then i got trashed 5th game: I made a mistake, and he killed Requiem with a double pulse from an UR NC (the mistake was he killed the UR NC's baser with his Black Blade, who was also based, i didnt realise it was an illegal order at the time) Though what gets me is that Elite basicly said he wouldnt play to serious, and ended up bringing his best to the tournament. I know my Requiem army was for kicks mostly, but i had some fun with it. (and i've pleaded to Southpaw to faq it ) |

Note to self.. Have to find a girl for Brinxter at worlds (j/k) GenCon so much is going on it feels like you never get a break. It is going to be very interesting this year at worlds! |
