I imagine most of you guys are preparing for Worlds and thus holding your tongues. I know that's part of the reason I've been quiet on the forums lately (the other part being my recently unreliable computer).
At any rate, I'm getting really excited! Can't wait to see you all there!

I still don't know what I am going to play.. I really have to look at the 300pt army reqs and 150 pts.. It is pretty unsettling for me I have a couple of 600 pts I could play but I wish I was more comfortable with them!

Flavio? What a great idea! I don't think we can get all the worlds players to bring flavio but actually instead of us bringing 150pts you should have built 150pts (flavio included in that)

I have made up about 6 300 pt armies.. I am not really happy with any of them. I keep going through my mind what we are going to do! I am sort of the opinion that There is going to be 300 pt armies on the table and we are going to have play one of our 300 pt armeis with that 300 pt army Oh well I guess I really don't know and that makes it difficult. One of my 300 pt armies is with a unit I have never played (and I haven't even opened out of the wrap yet ) I haven't started packing or getting pieces together yet. I guess I had better get busy. Mechwarrior tonight. Volleyball at church tomorrow night ;P I really need to get moving!

I will look for you on Wednesday. I am probably not bringing enough pieces I am just going to have fun and not stress like last year.. Really I am not going to stress! I am having trouble locating a last NC atv for that army we were talking about me playing against you! I might dig it up but I realized my time is running out. You are probably getting close to heading out also! baw

Congradulations to BAW and ZXQUEB (wish I knew what that meant). Just got back from a vacation in California, exhausting. Took kids to Disney and Sequoia and visited relatives in Alamo. Not even time to go to Games of Berkeley. Just got back on line and saw that you all did GREAT in the Worlds.
I wondered what happened to Chris, aka Raywind-who is local here in Maryland. He was doing well in Nationals, then dropped from the Nationals standings, and didn't show up at Worlds.
I had followed with interest Elite's comments about offensive vs. defensive play, IT vs. Decoy, and my son Henry and I had even retooled our collections to maximize our ITs. Then, BAM, Masakari wins with 2 Decoy mechs.
Also noted with interest the lack of tank drops in the finals at Worlds, and I thought that the WH R10 and some sort of tank would feature.
I was curious if any of the top players used charge-monkey? There had been some talk of this as an archetype.
My son (who is saddled with some serious disabilities) tried the two Nova Cat hyperlaser/Hyperlaser army and had much fun with it, even when he lost....
Best wishes,
Mike Guth

I really need to go and read up how everyone has done and what the final standings and armies were. I have only had a chance to read this board. Life is just pushing hard right now

I posted a report in my journal bit at mwrealms.
here is the text for this site.
How did I win Fellowship MW Worlds 2006.
To be honest I have nbo clue, it is also not something I even considered one way or another.
On Saterday the 5 of August, Brinxter came to my house and we practiced al day. At that time I played Seka's Pride in all kind of configuration to practice with it. At that time Brinxter was undecided bt playing requim or 2 hyper laser Nova Cat's.
Myself was looking for any other centerpiece then AoD Alpha.
The Next day Tillman (Milamber) shows up and he joined in the practice, practicing against Tillman can be gruelling as it takes 2,5 hours as he wants to look at all the options and wishes to see how they play out. Me I prefer to practice the 50 min that is given in game. To get a better sense for how long I have in the game.
Tillman brough 3 prepapred armies.
Solitude with some support. AoD Alpha. Merc FP + 2 kleswa drops + Julz.
In German everyone plays coustic atmosphere and subzero as such they dont tend to play any armor without battle armor in the name. Also he used Gossamers to great effect. This new point of view was greatly insightfull to myself. Also I showed how I could beat him in turn 0 with ATV's. In any case we learned from each other as such the practice session was a big succes.
We already made an agreement to repeat this practice session next year.
I also belief it helped Brinxter making his mind up on what army to play.
On tues the 8th we left for the United States Indianapolis. Taveling as a group is infestimal better than traveling alone which I did last year. Tillman and I talked MW for 5 hours straight on the flight.
Arriving a day early gave us time to get used to the surroundings. And we met the WK people for dinner in which they showed us the Wolfstike LE's and I can assure everyone my next review will be a lot more positive than the last one.
On Thursday we met most of the players and I was ready and waiting to play Trevor who enrolled in a 800 pointvest as he was winning a lot and only lost in the final to Marc/Masakari with an Ares. We posponed the match till the next morning.
In the meanwhile me Tillman and Ian we tested the Ares. And our conclusion was that in the 600 point game in the hands of a competent player you could not kill it in 50 min. I immediatly went to Southpaw and asked him to ban it from worlds competition.
We did some further testing and we started our campaign to get it banned from worlds, I belief over half of the other Worlds players joined in and SouthPaw annouced it would be banned for Worlds constructed.
On a Side note, I dont like gamepieces that have more abilities than other gamepieces, dear game designers never ever do that. Also if a Ares misses a shot he can shoot again at the target. Please rectify that, if it misses it misses.
We (Tillmans idea) have suggested to add at all times a pilot, engineer and gunner to the Ares which makes it always more expensive then 600. Which is fine in 600+ games you can bring 2 fully kitted heavy's and support these will be able to fight a Ares and win.
I tested it on Sunday in a 800 point tournement and I think the Ares will be fine then.
So day 1 of Worlds 2006 we played sealed with 2 vanguard and 1 domination booster. Tillman, Brinxter, Ian and I tested a mock sealed to see which 150 support was the best. We concluded that bringing a pilot was the best idea, as such we came down with LE Kerensky, WH Mjolnir, Light IT, 1 WH Minigun we all 3 brought his. Tillman says he had crap and the pilots and IT helped him out.He managed to win 4.
I played Firefly+ pilot. Sparky+Kerensky. WH Mjolnir +Sparky's pilot+IT HL R10 WH minigun WH CBA RD TGR
Ian had a god pull and just won 4 as well, I had a tough choice, either put Kerensky in a HL Scourge creating an 12 att. Mechs or put it in the Kerensky and play 3 mechs with a pilot. My sealed was good but my choices where subpar. I won 2 lost 2 at least 1 of those losses was unnesserarly, this was against Zqueb I postioned my sparky in range of a tankdrop the drop hit and I moved away. Instead of putting it safe I put in position to hit his left over hvy a WH Thor I already salvaged his light. His mech was pilot less and I based it needed a 13 to hit he took the shoot and hit. That costed me the game. Missing the WH Thor with a rear shot that was a crit miss didnt help either. But he won by outmanouvring me with the TD.
Later on I faced Heavy Gear a jovial Frenchman who I met on may occasions he had a CW Thor and a repair mech. Basicly he had attack 12, 12 and 10 impoved, vs my 11, 11, 10 improved. The odds where in his favour.
I decided to charge it as it was only an 11 he was hot and I was without out a token and chrging from water into water. I missed, all my followup missed too and I was easily defeated.
Before that I played Alienjake he had a TD army and he gave me no options but to fall back as terrain was in his favour if I would attack. I was on 599 and he on 597 and he had to come to me. This was the most intense tense and fun game played till that moment. We both manouvered well I managed to hit his Zeus, he played tony Zeus with the Pilot of Requim and a WH R10+WH Kelswa. Scary stuff indeed. In the end he dropped on the 1 target I gave him my Scourge with a 23 def. He missed and all hell broke lose, I gave a bloody nose to the Zeus who almost escaped, he killed sparky and I was in trouble again, but i did manage to kill it in the end. Truly an Awesome game for me. I also played Matti an great Italian guy who brought a lot of atv's which I slaugthered as soon as possible.
Still considereing my pull and choices I should have gone 3 and 1 at least.
Super Secret Format.
When I heard what we neede to bring 2x 300 I knew I would bring AoD + Alpha Kerensky + Hvy IT and 2 ATV's. It allows me to bring a mech many people dont realy like to play with and which I love to play.
I played Matthew, the Britisch Amereican guy, a truly bubbling personality who was here for his 2nd time he brought Kuro Ha, and some support. Obvious he wasnt that familiar with Alpha has he put in range of my Kuro Ha, I basicly sacrficied my Kuro Ha to kill his Alpha. His rots ATV's chased my Alpha doing 5 damage to it in the progress !?!?!?!? After which I ran. And won.
Next I played grimlock57/Isaru he was a most honourable opponent I faced in many a year. We had a great tense tight game which I won only because he refused to stall and was curious what I would do. He brought Rokurobi green and a Highl Hadur. We exchanged shots and he pressured me from turn 1 on. When I was hot with Alpha he allowed me a shot on his Roku, which I took and missed. If it had hit his Roku would be in trouble. As a Charge with my Roku would finish it off as it had improved myomer.
In the end of this game I will remember forever i killed 1 piece of inf more than Grimlock57 also he was my choice of fellowship and I still feel he should have it.
I did well in this mirror match part as it is a awesome test of tactical skill I hope to see it again.
Constructed or how I failed to make top 8.
I consider contructed to be my best game. I make good armies I understand all the gamepieces. I understand the odds involved. Still after sealed I finaly built an army, I wanted anything else then Alpha. But I wanted a 12 att Improved, a TTL drop and 16 inches of range. I started with the RotS Malice but I didnt felt comfortable with just an attack 12.
I ended up with Alpha+dejesus+IT BR Solitaire+Kelly+IT 4 CNC ATV RotS Bishop 2 HS TTL 1 CT
I played Heavy gear who played Merc FP + Seka Pride + Aiko+Decoy + Jack + Decoy.
HE played caverns and I played the PCC that tops defense at 23. Basicly I had him coming to me, he had a token. And I decided this was the time to attack and I missed all my shots. I coudnt even force decoy to go off. He hit me all over the place. The only damage scored on Seka was a crit ammo explosion on him self........
The odds shoud have favoured me more, I felt.
Next I faced an nightmare army, nightmare as it is an unkown force I never faced before basicly it was a triple House Davion tankdrop army with HD FP the reroll one. As the Kelswas have only have range 12 I expected and dust storm, so I played perfect day, heplayed urban instead. Bad choice later on. I made him pay for the FP and sniped at him indirectly. Then I ran with my solitaire to his deployment zone and scored a vc point and ran back. He was gettting desperate and I started killing units of oppertunity. He never faced Alpha be fore and after he hit me once indirectly was most annoyed with my CT who repaired Alpha back to his sweet spot. He made it his goal to kill the CT from then on.
Next was Miatti of Italy again with : Seka Pride + dejesus + Extra Range Jack Some ATV's
I tested this army and was not that concerned about it he played Caverns. And I was in trouble since then on. I sent my Solitaire to hunt down Jack, and failed miserably in hitting anything again.
I can assusre you when you opponent hits (with no IT) and you miss (with IT) it is getting depressing. So he won.
Having to play in caverns didnt help but not being able to hit Seka out of 7 shots with 11 IT and mostly better. Does not help........
I ended up 9th. And was first alternate......
BAW, Brett said earlier in the day he might had to leave early and would be willing to drop to let me play. I went to search for him to urge him NOT to drop. If he felt ok and could make it he should play. Well I found his room eventualy and left a message, the next day he did show up and decided he woud play.
Considering that I might play I made the following army. Alpha+dejesus+IT Jack LE Version 3 CNC ATV RotS Bishop 2 HS TTL 1 CT
I put in Jack so I might hit sommething a 13 IT should be good enough, dontlike putting in a piece that does nothing much but stan around. But after last days events I felt compelled to hit something in order to advance. Then again I never got the chance.
MechTran and I where playing the warcollege mechs right till the presentaion began, off course I can not play the Headmaster as I proved it isnt playable :-p dont I Trevor.....
I DFAed Mech Tran twice and he was 1 click form salvage when the ceremony began.
I was speachless, stunned to hear I won MW Worlds Fellowship. I neve gave it a single thought during my stay there. I was hoping for Isaru to win. And was completly flabbergasted. I left my gamepieces in the hall luckly one of my countryman brought them with him and I recovered them later.
It was a blast Tillman, Brinxter and Ian you where the best of roommates and practice buddies. Mechtran, Trevor, AlienJake, Zxqueb, Grimlock and off course BAW it was a great honour meeting you guys and just hanging around with you guys. Miatti, Heavy Gear Rearly it was a pleasure seeing you guys again and hope to meet you all in the european theather of operations. Nick and Michael thank you as referees. Dean Thank you for the WK hospitality.
No doubt I forgot some names thank you all it was again one of the best game expierances in my life.
I have a beatifull Batllemaster Painted by SouthPaw and a Raven lego Mech both survived the triphome in 1 piece are in my trophy closet. Ill be back Next year and I will strife to be the first player to win both Fellowship and Worlds............
