It seems like WK is going to 600pt games for constructed. What are your feelings about that? Like it? Hate it? Feel like you will be tired of seeing fatties with adequate support? Feel like you will be tired of seeing light - mediums with loads of support? Think time will be a bigger issue?

I think 600 points could potentially open the game up in a completely new way. 2 big mechs can actually be a force with the proper support. Faction Pure play just got better as a more well-rounded force can be played now. IMO, a well-rounded force, for me, is:
One larger mech, heavy or assault, being almost 240-300. One small mech, light or medium. 1-2 arty, I play artilery for the sole reason of nuking my opponents arty, which in my opinion, if you don't, denys you board control. 1 set of infantry formation, preferably a drop. One VTOL, for protecting the backfield if need be and patrolling the DZ.
this is more feasible in Faction Pure play, and much more fun as well. It fits alot easier in 750, which is my personal favorite build, as you can really delve into mech choices.
But, back to the topic at hand. 600, if they change to 600 that is, could change the way the metagame is seen. In 600 it is much easier to run mechs, and I assume its therefore harder for non-mech armies to rule. If they change to 600, I could see an assault with crazy support ruling everything, which would be fine. I could see 2 heavies running the scene. 3 Lights could function, almost.
If they change to 600, time may be a factor. Going back to 1 hour rounds may be needed, depending on the size of the battleforce (number of pieces) and player speed (We all know old-man steve plays with 5 turn games).
600 points, my vote, yay.

I vote for 600 pts. as well. I like mechs of all types, so I would be pleased to be able to feasibly run one big fat assault mech with a whole bunch of support. Then again, I'm eternally biased Not to mention I can finally go artillery crazy. (2 SS Paladins + Liao A4 Artillery Tank anybody?)

Wow! he stole my line.. How many Arty Pieces can I get in 600 ;D I think one of the things that hurts is the 50 minutes time limit.. 10 extra minutes is critical with arty Oh well I could play all my SSW Arrow IV's in 600 It would allow multiple mechs in a force also!

600 points would be a nice change to see. I often find 450 a little..binding in the army builds. 600 is a little more liberal in what you can have in it, being that you can field a Heavy/Assualt class mech, along with a lighter mech, and still have support to go along with it.
After all, isn't this game supposed to be about that, combined arms?

That's too bad. 600 seems like a solid number from what I've been playing. It definitely opens up the game for mechs since you can keep the versitility / heavy hammer of a mech while keeping it supported.

I agree. You can't play a lot of the big mechs in 450 with any type of support. You can also play some multiple mech armies.

Yep. I still am betting that we will see the game move in that direction. The 600 pt storylines seem to be a testing ground for the 600 format. I haven't seen anything particularly broken about it.

It does have some issues... Although I generally don't play tank drop.. I can do Tank drop with a mech in 600 pts and even a piece of artillery or so!

That doesn't really bother much. The way I see it, if I play a 450 tweaked army like my nationals army, I get a better point for point ratio against big mechs simply because they have inadequate support. In 600, TD vs big mechs seems to even out because support is more even.

600 pts means more tactics and less I hit first there fore I win.
I am personally fond of two mech armies. I really was only able to do that in two armies of mine. The first was bansons raiders "afrika korp" It had: 2 suncorbras 3 towed gauss rifles 1 scout ATV 1 garrot super heavy 2 SM2 heavy arties and Banson's faction Pride.
This work well in all condition, but its' greatest draw back was the lack base attack. The towed gauss rifle formation was highest with 11 and IT. In 600 I'd swap out the cobras with fully loaded hatchetmen, this would greatly increase that armies effiancy.
My other army is my fun Kurita one, which I won't go into.
Also 600 pts one could feel comfortable play high points mechs, which means our favorite Assault Mechs won't be collecting dust.

With 600 you can build some nice formations. That is what I like about it!
