Hi all a good 2007 and may the dice be with me.... I forsee some challenges in the coming year. Just putting some here see what the reactions will be.
1. Old and new, the more i look around the forum the more i see older units being used with the new. DF schmidts all kind of atv's etc. I am always playing sofar with AoD onwards but as long as there are no good (clear) guidelines. I am dying to start using older units myself. Although this would give me an unfair advantage vs. many of the new players around here.
2. Seka Pride, well we all must learn to fight it. Most people I know make sure they have some CC capacity in their armies. Some use arty.
3. Julz Jack (LE) another piece that can do to much for its point value.
4. Peacemaker with 2 evademechs in front.
Maybe challenges is ato big a word these are trends i see at the moment. And prepare myself for. What do other see ?
i posted it already om mwrealms although we might have a different discussion here...

Well finding an army that fits is important.
I never had problems finding an army it is more using what works for me.
I hope you find something as in 3 to 4 months European Championships will come up....

I played the HK/HL SA with YLW and Kuro Ha recently. I must say, I really enjoyed it! I played way too cautiously with it - since you pay 40 points for the SA, you really need to close fast and starting beating on things to make the ability worthwhile. But I think I'll do better with it next time.
In my first game, the two Mechs combined to take out an Echo 1 in two turns, and a Swan in three later turns (it was a 900-point game). In another match, they killed a CW Marauder IIC and a CW tank formation. In neither game was either Mech killed or salvaged, although Kuro Ha had only a click or two to go once.
Right now, I have three go-to armies that I think about a lot: 1. Light Mech swarm, with 3-4 Mechs (I am slowly collecting light C3i cards!) 2. HK/HL SA w/ YLW + Kuro Ha 3. Jack/LE Julie plus heavy hitter of my choice (WH Thor, SP, etc)
I am considering a try with the SC/DF SA. In theory, the ability provided is similar to Jack's. On the upside, it only costs 40 points compared to Jack/LE Julie's minimum of 182 (iirc) without gear, and it can include energy weapons. On the downside, you have to have LOS to targets in order for it to work, and it costs you 40 points on VC 2. I'm still thinking about it.

I played the HK/HL SA with YLW and Kuro Ha my self and it is a fun built to play. I havent gone all the way with as optimizing to the max. But it has some strong possibilities.
It is stronger than I expected.
I have 4 med c3i only 1 light c3i but prefer IT. I have played it and it does good work. aLtough you must maxx you attack on 1 target which isnt cost effective.
I wont comment on your no 3 army

Has anyone picked up on where we are in 2007 in terms of game support and higher level tournament rules?
I've not seen any sign of the Action Packs (either imminent releases or the roll out for 2007).
Games Expo is being held from the 18-22 March which should reveal all.
Once that's in place, there's the matter of tourney rules for Nats etc.
It looks like Gencon Paris will be the first "major" event to come up (remember last year's Twins ruling..?). The European Event (soon to be re-titled the annual "Who'd like to see a load of Dutch guys turn up and win" event) takes place on the 25-27 May.
I would like to think that the rules for this event are applied to later Nats events.
No date for UK Nats as yet, but I'm pretty sure that June is a busy month for MW World.
I think all we're after is a hint of the release schedule (the fewer piece/sets being released between now and June means there's less chance of a game-breaking piece or card to materialise) and, above all, some indication as to set retirement and the game at the higher levels.
Come on WK - I can only play for fun for so long...

Tj the germans are coming to and last year some of their best stayed at home.
This year I doubt they are so inclined.
But thanks for the compliment. We have some new talent here keeping me bizy and Brinxter is growing stronger to I think.
Sofar Europeans I heard will be 600 AoD onwards so your present army will be completly fleshed out which means people will play tactics they know and battle will be tight and hard fought.
Most armies will have solutions either for Seka's pride or Jack I expect.

600 points AoD onwards sounds a pretty good solution to all this. Mind you, both of the Europeans so far have had their own "rules" to meet (2 mechs minimum last year?). I did think that the Germans weren't there in force last year - I hope that Mr Pringles has found a new game to play... I just hope that the UK can send a few more players this year. Tom and I hope to make it (but the event is scheduled over a British school holiday) and maybe there will be a prize for any army that doesn't have Jack or SAD in it !!

As far as i heard the Dutch contignent to the EC will be rather large! With all the people who are thinking seriously (or have already decided) on going we have about 8 players, maybe even as much as 10! (Mr.Pringles will most likely be among them) And as far as i heard not all are bringing IT to the field and maybe there will be a prize for any army that doesn't have Jack or SAD in it !! oooh, i wont win that one!

If they're not bringing IT then they can't be Dutchmen - they must be imposters from over the border - in Belgium... ;D
