A bit of fun, but I've been wondering which pieces would make it into a MW Hall of Fame? I was looking at the whole range of figures from Dark Age to WS but would want to rule out uniques.
I'm not sure how detailed to make the categories but the basic one would be just inf, vehicle, mech. If there are enough votes, I suppose there could be sub-groups such as VTOLs, arty etc. The mechs can certainly be split into weight categories.
Your vote should be cast because of stats and performance - there's a category for a "nostalgia" piece for all of you with a tear in your eye for that certain mech that means so much!
So, a first stab at the categories could be:
Infantry
Vehicle
Artillery
VTOL
Transport
Light Mech
Medium Mech
Heavy Mech
Assault Mech
Nostalgia Vote (can include Uniques)
I think they should all have a reason why you voted - especially the Nostalgia vote.
For me, the votes would be:
Infantry - SC Hoverbike (fast, agile and long-lived. The ultimate harasser).
Vehicle - D1 Schmitt (incredible %age to hit with arm piercing make up for its low DV)
Artillery - SSwn AIV (as much as I hate what it did to the game, still the best POGGer point for point).
VTOL - DF Donar (high AV edges out the SC version. None of the recent VTOLs even come close). BR Sprint a very close second.
Transport - SC R10 (tough - guaranteed to get your passengers into the combat zone). BR Sprint again just looses out.
Light Mech - BR Soli (fast, high DV, good DV and big damage potential).
Medium Mech - Errrrr, pass on this one. Is the BR Lego a medium?
Heavy Mech - JF Loki. Fast, great heat management and big damage.
Assault Mech - CNC Marauder. Range and damage, what an assault mech is all about.
Nostalgia - Arnis Drummond - helped me win the UK Nats in 2004.
Any takers?
