I tried throwing together a Constructed Army yesterday.. I won but barely.. I Knew it didn't have enough support but I am always looking for Ideas Here is what I played Chikako Vassilev AA Targeting 4 Liao ATV's 2 SSW Arrow IV's JF Sylph SH Atv Always willing to listen to ideas..

Well, something that may help would be where you weakness was. At what point did the army not perform as well as it should. Where did you find it weak. If you point out what you didn't like we can help improve on that.
From just looking at the army, the mechs huge, and AA targeting is a nice choice. I prefer ECM on Chikako but maybe theres an abundance of VTOL's by you.
You have good arty, but no support for them, unless thats your mech at first, which is ok.
You have a crap load of ATV's, is 5 necessary?

I faced a counter battery of Arty.. I need that load of ATV's. he had a big mech and arty also.. I also faced a couple of ATV's. The AA just forced them to the ground. I really needed another big stick but in 450 it is just tough to get two big sticks in one army I played a variant last night.. Chikako Boris Liao Paladin Arrow IV 5 ATVs I was supposed to have another SH atv but forgot The issue with both of these armies is support the arty.. Chikako had to clear the opponents atvs off the arty. baw

I agree that EC is more effective than AA targetting on Chikako, especially since he has a decent AO. EC on Chikako works as a counter to the all eggs in one basket syndrome. Because his dial is so long, stable and free of salvage, he can get pounded on while dealing damage and get away (hide) for the rest of the game... The EC protects him from getting nickel and dimed to death. Because so many of your points become more difficult to kill in 50 minutes, you get a sort of point advantage over your opponent if you are careful... this is more true of Chikako than any of any other mech, in my opinion.
As for support...I know you like your arty, but since it is so easily shut down, I would take a second hammer unit (either a TGR Drop or a DF Tokugawa Drop), a single pushable arty piece with transport or a dual infantry arty with 2 cap drop. That way, you can keep it all moving and keep the support to a maximum.

I have to use Arty.. I roll so bad... It doesn't hurt so much because I know where my tokens are going to go.. Look for a low number and that is the direction it is going I will look at your ideas... I really wanted a Tokugawa.. Improved targetting is nice.. I still manage to roll too many critical failures on them though You have given me something to think about.. I might try playing an esperanza also. baw
