The Merc FP seems to be way overpowered. I believe the recent FAQ clarified that it did affect ALL defensive modifiers (there's an arguement to say that cards come into effect before pilots and gear so gear like Evade and any Pilot Defence modifier could have been retained - never mind).
I was looking at capitalizing on the Merc FP but in order to pay for the 5/150, you're limited to Mercs and Wolf Hunters. If you add anything else to the mix, you'll pay the 10/150 and are likely to be down on anyone that plays True Grit.
One army that would seem to be a nice Cheese Combo would be:
Jack Nightstalker 149 Julz Kolchak (LE Version - no recruit) 27 Merc Kelswa 104 WH R10 ICV 42 Merc Paladin 73 WH Minigun Cycle x 4 40 Merc FP 15
The idea is to capitalize on Jules' Forward Observer ability and allow the Kelswa to TD through blocking.
If your opponent cancels the blocking, you've got a decent TD range that can be boosted by having Jules within 6 inches of the target and your Paladin may well get a clear LOS.
The Paladin and Miniguns were put in to provide a defensive option where the Kelswa guards the DZ and the Miniguns shield the arty piece. If the first blocking is placed correctly, the Paladin can also shoot through it if your opponent tries to use it as cover.

Ok.. I saw an incredibly nasty combo over the weekend.. Twins and Merc faction Pride. It was an ugly battle. I am really starting to dislike twins.. oh have we said that yet?

I think the easiest way to weaken Merc FP is to limit its use to Mercenaries only, no Gunslingers or especially Wolf Hunters. That'd pretty much solve all the problems.

Welcome to the forums Puma! I think that's a good idea in general. However, unfortuantely there aren't many tournament legal straight merc units left! That would be really hard to use without paying the exta cost... which, of course is the point Z

It should be limited to certain modifiers perhaps only equipment/pilot modifiers... not all the other modifiers (assault, indirect, capture, etc)
And welcome indeed Puma!
