I played against Jonah and Solitude last night. It is a beast. It does have the typical Assault Mech heat issue. My opponent really wanted to get it to battle and pushed it too hard and that was it's downfall. You do need to watch its heat dial but it has some pretty impressive stats!

It absolutely has incredible stats, but for the point cost, it should. It would definitely be more playable in 600 as it can get decent support. Heck, alone it fulfills most storyline requirements. I can't wait to try a game or two with him next week. Mine's in the mail. Z

The build rules for the European Event in Paris stipulate 600 points constructed with a minimum of 2 Mechs. There's a chance I can pick up Jonah at the Event. I like the idea of Improved Tracking to eliminate Evade on the Twins. The second mech would have to be a cheapie - maybe something like a WH Mjolnir, ROTS Hellion or a Seafox Solitaire. That will leave me with about 100 points of support - I'm thinking that this just isn't enough (10 ROTS trackbikes?).
I'd be interested to know your views on the SEC/Pilot fits for Jonah.

My son used Scott Graves in his mech. I think it might have had evade. He lacked support tremendously. I think he also played true grit. True Grit is nice to protect Jonah and Scott from Mercenary Faction Pride.
I am going to have to crunch some numbers and see what we can do!

With 2 mechs, there just doesn't seem to be enough room. I've tried not to over-egg Levin's points cost, but there's only so much you can do:
Solitaire/Levin/Improved Tracking (368) HS Jackalope/Tamar Pilot/Grapple (130) 8 x ROTS Minigun Cycles (72) 30 points of other "stuff" (HS or CJF Sylph, 2 ROTS ATVs or 2 Liao CTs)
The Jackalope seems a good running mate to the ATLAS but otherwise its a pretty weak piece. An alternate for the same cost is the WH Mjolnir with Hero Pilot and IT. That gives most of the army blue or black armour.
Finally, I can see any Solitude army being vulnerable to the Twins+Phelan Ward (+Evade) where a sub-200 pointer can take out the ATLAS leaving the rest of your army to the Twins + 130 points of support.

I don't know TJ, even in 600 EJL seems like too much of a point sink if you have a 2 mech requirement. He is just too big a points sink to have only a light mech as support. For the Paris event, I would be more inclined to look at double light + lots of support. You'll be able to get 2 good mechs for the less than cost of EJL and be able to out support him to boot. Plus without too many eggs in one basket, you'll be able to avoid being dominated by phelan's special ability.
On the other hand, EJL can sort of stand up to the twins with his armor, so you may find that he is worthwhile depending on what the next twin fix is. Of course, as you said, he is vulnerable to Phelan (as is any big mech).
As for the other "stuff" in your army, I find the CJF sylph to be more useful than the HS, though the HS can protect you from Tank Drop a bit better.

I much prefer the CJF Sylph to the HS Sylph. Jonah's big issue is Heat dial. Perhaps he does need a Coolant truck I would try to get a light/medium mech that can at least hang on its own some!

Can I ask how everyone has EJL so early? Baw has one, and Z is about to? Did I miss a sendaway?

It is a send away to ebay I almost got a second last night for 20$. I was concerned about what I was going to spend my 75$ at a convention to get one.. I see we can buy the giant sized Cthulhu at the convention for 85$ so I will be probably getting another. I broke the arm on my atlas already. I have glued it back on but both arms were almost immovable.. Has anyone else seen this? or was I just lucky?

Yeah... That Cthulhu looks really cool. And since I am not paying to get into the con (I'm a teacher) and am imposing on friends and family for beds, I may just spend the $ for the Cthulhu).

Saw my first EJL on Tuesday. I didn't get to play against it but but I got to click through the dial.
The stats are decieving. Yes it is a big nasty beatstick, and yes it has Hardened armor for a loooong time, and yes its AV can get a crazy boost from Levin's ability, but it falls prey to the problems of all other really spendy mechs: it's just too many points for one unit!!
Things that could make EJL sweat: AP arty, Inf swarm, Phelan Ward, Desert Wasteland, etc...
Will I give him a try when I get my EJL? Yes. Will he come to dominate the tournament scene? No.

This should be a laugh:
Solitude+Levin+Camo Thumper+Rollins (recruit to SC) SC Fenrir BA x 3 ROTS Elite Inf ROTS Combat Tech ROTS/SC SA
No the largest army ever to take the field but it should slow the Twins down a little.

Army I played against yesterday.
Solitude.
7 ROTS Miniguns (I think) 1 atv
I had phelan ward in my army... I expected to face the twin. I roll so poorly I was planning on running most of the game. I pick up the dice for the first Zellbringen roll. I said Hey let me roll your die.. I roll a 6. It was game over after that!
