Aside from the immediate realisation that SA-001 will allow D1 Scmitts to shoot through blocking. I've been thinking about how un-retirement will add yet more power to the Merc FP card.
I've always found it a challenge to piece together enough Merc/WH units to make a decent 600 point army. Granted, the WH chioce is getting better with every release, but this was accompanied with the corresponding reduction in the choice of Mercs.
Just a brief glimpse of the units available shows that fitting a Merc FP army into 600 should be a LOT easier now that un-retirement is almost upon us:
Shock Troopers (cheap bypass units) Sniper arty (accurate with good damage) Fa Shih (capture/bypass attempts just got easier) Clan BA (tough for the points) Zahn (say no more) Grey Death (anti pers goodness) Kanazuchi (make the DDF version look like bad shots) Purifier (cheapest BA going)
The mercs all suffer from not having gear slots, but even then, there are a few that seem half decent:
Shockwave Thos Cardella Gus Eddington
Worth looking at once we get un-retirement sorted.

I played zahn with merc pride in a unrestricted just to give it a try! Kanazuchi's would be nice I am not terribly impressed by the listed Mechs!

it will take a serious looking at but I can't think of too many retired mechs that can Seriously compete. Stefani Ehli has good memories but I have to look at her stat stability! Twin Jonah's would be expensive (and couldn't field in 600) but impressive looking coming down the field! Spirit cat sun cobra was decent but we need to just go through the list of units and look at stability. The nice thing about Stefani is the repairability. One Eyed Jack I think a lot of these might be fun to play but they are not uber competitive!

Dude!
I loved playing Thos Cardella back in the day. He was the man next to little Colin Yukinov and his cougar. Those were an awesome little pair I had. Old school mercs were awesome, too bad they never were able to follow modern day merc rules.

Colin has sentimental value for me, he won me my first marquee. Back in the day of 300 points.

I don't think I ever played Colin in a competitive game. One guy we played with loved that figure. He played it all the time!

Everybody here had him.. I had pre-ordered 4 copies of the game to get him Then a local EB had gotten a ton of them and were throwing them in the trash one day when I was walking in I ended up handing those out to everybody!
