Sometimes I am worried about the new special equipment. I really dislike equipment that depends on you rolling well to take advantage of. Artemis V being a prime example. It takes some of the strategy out and puts it into the hands of dice rolling (which I dislike )

I have to say, I am more excited about the new SEs that you don't have to roll for. Coolant is potentially game changing. Recon is just useful.
The armor ppc capacitor and the A-V are so so, but could be useful from time to time. Those are the types of SEs you want on the dial in case of emergency, but not ones that you would pay extra to put on, IMHO.

I am leery of how well the coolant truck is going to work. It seems like another target to me that you target incase you miss your main target. If someone builds his army around a coolant vehicle (which it should be an important part for the points it costs) Then the army is going to be hurt when it is taken out.
I agree with your dramatically. I like the abilities that I know are going to work. Although the others scare me because some lower ranked player will play 20 games with a poor army just hoping to roll well.
They always ask me why I won't give them any shot when they play blackout.. I just say I hate the chance of a single lucky dice roll changing the outcome of a game.
I guess they are trying to make the game more new player friendly. It just concerns me that it will become all dice rolling but we are still far from that!

Of course, the coolant truck will be near the mech, so you'll have to go through that to hit the truck. Plus because you can move and cool, you can hang back a bit without giving your enemy a chance to get a shot off. A tankdrop escort will also work well to dissuade people from attacking your truck.

A tankdrop and a mech and a coolant truck sounds like a lot of points I just think the coolant truck will be an alternate target. It might be useful but right now I think it seems like a lot of point and perhaps a vulnerability. Although if you are using a BIG mech, order count shouldn't be an issue.

And of course, if you can keep that big mech cool and shooting EVERY TURN, then the coolant truck is an asset rather than a liability.

I would rather use water Doesn't cost points It just seems like that if you are depending on it and it is easily taken down. It doesn't sound good.

Water has limited flexibility on the battlefield. And you can't guarantee that it will stay there after PCs are played. By playing a coolant truck, you also can get your mech to a safer place (under artillery minimum, behind blocking, etc) and not have to rest. Yes, they can be targeted, but they also keep your mech cool and even enhance your terrain placement because now you don't NEED water. Imagine the benefit you would have with a big mech army against another big mech army in desert wasteland. You can act every turn while your opponent will have to waste an order to vent.

I just hope that they will be able to keep up with a mechs movement. I hate having to wait around on the battlefield for my vehicles to clear because they can't act every turn.

I see them as in certain tactical situations being useful and perhaps good in sealed. I don't see them as competitive.. Now I know people can change my opinion and perhaps someone will! I will have a much better feeling after I get to play with them some. The is just a gut feeling type of call
