So.... yeah. Solaris IMHO is one of the most fun ways to play MWDA, especially when you have enough time to play a convention. Now... Wizkids has been "revising" the Solaris rules on their forums for I don't know how long... so I use the other version (easy to find on google) So.... tell me about your interesting Solaris battles and such. I tend to have poor ability rolling.... ugh.... and also bad combat rolling. one of my friends has excellent ability rolling but extremely poor combat rolls. Can you say... 19 inch range Sc Sun Cobra with Heroic? One of my other friends has extremely good ability and combat luck.... likes to use a Liao Targe (EVIL in Solaris) yeah... I like to use fun mechs... used to use a SW Valiant until I decided it was too hard to get to sweet spot. Tried to use Fu once... that didn't work to well (ammo explosions ) And now I think I'll try using the CNC NC (which should work pretty well.... assuming my luck isn't too terrible)

I used a mech that ran really hot.. Stormhammer atlas I won a couple of Local Solaris Matches with it.. At gencon 2 years ago I worked 4 days as an envoy and didn't get to play much! I ended up only getting to play one round of lights.. I had no lights with me and dug through one guys box to try and find something to play.. I chose a Highlander koshi baw

I haven't played solaris in AGES. It's really entertaining, though!

I used to get ganged up on After winning a few of them I decided to sit out for a game or two at a local convention! They later came and got me because they needed an eight player.. I played a locust.. I killed a BR Black KNight.. I might have survived longer if I wouldn't have have been pumping the crowd I don't think they are ever going to revise those rules. It doesn't sell units!

I've never gotten to play a Solaris match. Sounds like a bit of fun. It would be cool to do something like it for an unrestricted tourny, right?

Dragondawg,
We had a solaris league started last summer at Game Wizards, but it sort of fizzled out. I would certainly enjoy playing again for an unrestricted or two this summer!

Fast and fun... thats how Solaris goes.... Usually good to make alliances of course Medium mechs are best usually.... plenty of firepower coupled with good range. With heavy and assault mechs you will almost never make the initiative roll... which is bad. And watch out for backstabbers.... grrrr... one guy critted Danni Haag with his SS Swordsworn Centurion which also had deadeye.... 7 damage

I have seen some really strange things happen during solaris. Alliances are nasty though! You can quickly become overwhelmed. You do need to remember the FAME rule. That keeps people fighting and stops the cowering in the corner

The problem without fame.. People will sit in corners and turtle waiting for other people to take damage and be injured.
Fame was a great idea for this game!

That's as it should be! Peer pressure (or a good old fashoned double-teaming) works wonders to get people to play like they mean it!

I have seen lots of games break down to waiting for the crazy guy to do something and everyone smashing him
