First I'd like to ask that we get a CBT board.
Ok...does it seem odd to anyone else that CBT is becoming VERY apealing?

I tend to find that CBT and MW don't tend to cross over that much. We have CBT players at our club who have never come near the MW table (and vice versa on our part).
I think even if MW dies a death, the 2 games are different enough that there won't necessarily be a drift over to CBT.

I don't know -- My first miniature game was classic battletech (back before it was classic). There is some crossover in fans, but MW is so much better a game, I have little desire to head back to CBT with any regularity even if MW weren't around. Of course, I have been known jump in on a game or two at origins each year though.
If there is interest besides Karl, I'll make a CBT forum on here. Anyone want one?

I don't know if it's better; That's just a matter of taste. CBT is a good system, but the fact of the matter is that it plays like an 80's war game. Everything is tracked in such detail, that a game of CBT takes 6 hours and feels to me more like working spread sheets than playing a game. I played Starfleet battles (a similarly deep "simulator" board game in the Star Trek universe) fanatically when I was 14-15. When I finally picked up the game as an adult 20 years later, I found it about as exciting as watching paint dry. With more experience in gaming, I've found that I prefer rules light - strategically heavy games over hardcore simulations. Besides, I don't have 8 hour days available to dedicate to one game. I'd much rather play the 6 games of MW I can finish in the time it takes to play one game of CBT... Of course at conventions, I do have 8 hours to kill...and sometimes it's fun to let the CBT players pick on me for using my MW faction dice. -Vladd

I didnt have any CBT experience prior to the first Gencon Indy i visited. And i have to say, i love the battle royale system, just pick up a mech (MW mech, fitted to a CBT base ) and a score board and wade in with guns firing. If there was a big loyal following overhere i would probably visit them a few times, but alas... its almost as dead as MW is i guess. (with this i mean to few players spread over to large an area)

I'd have to agree here, part of the reason I try to play at the conventions is the Battle royales are fun fun fun! One on one the game is boring and lance on lance to slow and tedious...Battle royales are the best of both worlds. Only one mech to keep track of and many targets to shoot at -vladd
