I think that you are missing a Good Artillery Piece in the post Second Retirement era. I really like the Liao Longtom.. That thing just hits all the time if you place your tokens correctly, has 3" tokens and hardened armor! If it was armor piercing it would be the ultimate piece It is still very good! Well worth looking at!

Hmm.... but the Liao Longtom has very low defense and still is fairly expensive. I admit it is pretty effective, but also SU heavy armor.... ewww....
Only 8 points less. I would rather take a Liao PDS <_<

SU heavy armor is bad ;P but two good things that really make it shine... It doesn't miss and the 3" blast radius. It also has a long life for an arty piece also! I will have to sit down and figure out best placement for a liao Paladin. I really like that the only way the Arty drifts is back towards your deployment. That makes people hesistant to move up a little bit and have the arty drift and hit them anyways!

I have played the SSW Paladins a number of times. They are decent! The thing I really like about arty is that I don't roll well anyways so that helps me. I can plan on that!

OK!
The set breakdown is up!
We have complete list of everything and I am rather pleased myself.
Clan Jade Falcon, Swordsworn, Stormhammers, Highlanders, and Steel Wolves are out. Liao is back in, and Clan Sea Fox of all factions is in. We're getting Nova Cats and there crazy alliance with Kurita.
The breakdown as I call it:
Nova Cats: 18 units, they got the most and they need it. They also got the most Unique mechs in the set, 4, which means that they are the ones who got the LE lance of the set.
RotS: Got 11 units, not too shabby, no U's but this isn't the set that loves them so its ok.
Steiner: 11 Units with 1 Unique. Not too shabby, what they needed to be competitive.
Kurita: Got 11 Units with 3 uniques, they are feeling the love.
Davion: 10 units with no U's, not bad, I think they could get more love, but we'll see what the future holds.
Liao/BR: Got 10 units between them both, not great, no U's at all. Liao finally got some pieces, lets hope its pieces that will make them a good faction again.
Gunslingers: 4 units, but their gunslingers, moving on...
Dragons Fury: 3 Units, wow, why haven't they just been absorbed yet...
Clan Sea Fox: 2 Units! Holy Crap who made this set? Sea Fox doesn't get pieces! In all seriousness its good to see they got some love, instead of just painting gunslingers there colors and not giving them lower recruits. Go Sea Fox!
Last but not least....
Rashalhague Dominion: 1 unit! Oh yeah, Ghost Bear in the house finally! I've been waiting for Ghost Bear for a long ass time! There the Clan that realizes the best way to protect the Inner Sphere is to become part of the Inner Sphere. They know whats up and I welcome there support for the I.S. .
I love the set as of right now. Factions that needed love got it, and factions got absorbed that should have been. DF is still around, for what reason who knows. Steel Wolves is still out, which is really bad for them. I not the biggest fan of them, but they are getting screwed really bad here, they need some love bad or they are going down the tubes fast!
What does everyone else think of the new set?

The information looks interesting.. I thought ROTS was going to get more figures because they won the Recruitment war?

Not until January. Highlanders just get the exclusive gear for the set... which unfortunately is fairly crappy.

I'm really excited about the RD. I was hoping they would be the next main group put into the game. I am disappointed that (according to the spoiler list) we aren't seeing more Situational Alliances. I think those were a really neat addition to the game and are incentives to build armies that would outside a normal context.

Ghost bears are good. I hope Clan wolf when they come have a different Paradigm. I really dislike the steel wolves (hey I am easy to hit.. Kick me now design)
Huh what do you mean Zxqueb about no situational alliances.. a line from the release information
Eight new situational alliances also return with Annihilation
Your wish is granted!

From what I've seen, I am considering buying a case for the set again... Something I said I wouldn't do after AoD. But it just looks so darn cool! Plus Nova cats are coming in!
