With Annihilation coming and new factions coming in this set and the next, who will be rotated out of this set so old ones can be rotated in? Steel Wolves and Spirit Cats were left out of this set, as well as Liao, who was left out of AOD with RotS. House Merric should be coming in soon, and with Nova Cat rearing its ugly (and cuddly) head, we could see some of our favorites rotated out.
Who do you think will be in Annihilation?
My thoughts is that Steel Wolves and Spirit Cats and Liao will be back. SC need to be with Nova Cat. Steel Wolves just need more pieces overall. I could see either Swordsworn or Bansons Raiders left out of this set since they've been in I believe every set since release. I could also see Dragons Fury being left out due to Kuritas move in. I've heard some pull for RotS to be left out again since they won the faction wars where they get a sh*te-load of pieces in an upcoming set, but...They were left out of DarkAge, had only Uniques in FireforEffect, were left out of CounterAssault, and were left out of AOD. I can see a small set of RotS pieces being in the next set, and I could forsee Highlanders being ditched, but not RotS.
Who else has a guess?

Actually... I think they stated that there will be no Liao until the January set. Spirit Cats will probably be not quite that prominent because of the need to introduce some CNC pieces, and they will definitely have a grand alliance i think. Dragon's Fury should be absorbed by Kurita now, so no more DF pieces.

Let's hope SC/NC gets some serious loving in the next set. Right now, they have slipped from one of the most playable factions to one of the least due to retirement and mech power creep.
Liao is low on the list as well. I hope they have some pieces in there, but I have my doubts.
I hope to see some more Kurita pieces if only to make them more playable in faction pure.
ROTS got so much love in Firepower, they SHOULD be left out. d**n ROTS. Hates them I do.

Doesn't ROTS get an extra big slice of units in the next set? They won the big Contest on WK site right?

Yeah, we get like 40% of the units in the next big set, which is either this or next january, so we may not be getting our good things for a while.
Z, I hate Liao, but I know they deserve some pieces. And the RotS not being in Annihilation is kinda harsh. Liao, before AOD, had the most pieces out of anyone, and they were in only 3 sets. The RotS was left out of sets left and right. And don't tell me to count Highlanders from pre-AoD, Highlanders sucked royally pre-aod, they were barely good in Falcons Prey with there nons and Dock Steward.
Dragonsfury should be left out, probly Swordsworn too, maybe even stormhammers cause Steiner is getting the love this set. But who knows.

Hey... highlanders had Kava too... she was good The next big set is January. Wizkids release schedule is two small sets and one big set a year. AoD was the big set this year, with annihilation and firepower being the small sets. IMHO DF should be left out, although Kurita needs s'more units. Swordsworn is being absorbed into House Davion so you will see no more swordsworn pieces. The only problem I see is that either teh January base set better have A LOT of liao or else Liao will be royally screwed, as then all their old pieces will be retired and they will have to work with what is in the January set.

Actually no, the next of retirement isn't coming for another 2 years, not til 2007. Thats what I heard at least, according to southpaw13. So Liao will have alot, and when they do retire, Falcons Prey won't be retired, so they still have units in FP. Awesome units like Flavio Rodriguez, and the Stinger...well, maybe they're not the best, but still.

No. At least thats what I heard. Liao Incursion and Counterassault are being retired in January. Falcon's prey will still be legal however.

I also heard that Counter Assault and Liao Incursion would be retired in January.
It seems pretty likely to me.
The game will change a lot then.

Yep. No more arrow IVs and Combat Engineers. No more zahns, donars or sprints either. Which means people will have to swtich to PDS probably. Also, no ATVS. this will definitely change the game a lot.

I'm not really happy about the loss of the ATVs as that will give artillery a boost that it doesn't really need. I hope they get reissued for about 20 points each.

Well, after the retirement of CA and Liao Incursion the only artillery pieces that would be worth fielding would be:
PDS (extremely expensive) Hadurs (Fast break, fairly cheap, but only single pog, and not terribly accurate) TTL's (Cheap artillery, fairly accurate, but suffers somewhat from only a 1 inch pog)
SM2's just suck too much.... too inaccurate with random drift.
I guess we'll have to wait and see what happens in Annihilation and the January set. I think that Wizkids is trying to move away from powerful artillery tho.... probably because of the SSw A4 tank.

I like the no ATV idea. It makes all those sylphs that no one uses all that much a chance to shine. They move 18-22 inches, let them base things, thats what they were made to do. Well, that and bypass things, at least the stormhammers one does, which is awesome.
Even with the loss of ATV's, there are still some fast pieces. I mean come on, you still have the Shamash's!
If you are really that worried about Arty, don't be. Arty's power is weakening. The Hadurs can't hit dead bang if there life depended on it. The SM2's suck. The infantry arty isn't going to be game breaking. The PDS's are the best choices, and they cost alot, and its only acting every other turn. The only arty that is still cheap for what it does is the snipers, but those don't have AP if I remember them correctly, so don't worry.
