Faction war

Well, after 8 months, I finally jumped back into mech for the faction war... and had a GREAT time. 8 players (2BR, 2 CJF, 3 HK and 1 HS (I think).

I didn't lose much that I couldn't replace over the course of the tournament, so I was running consistently:

2x BR solitaires + pilots + APM
2x M Zahns (1 with TGR dop, 1 with M. Kelswa)
Unique repair tech
Sprint scout + fa shih
Bayins (until the last game)
Assorted infantry

1st game V. X-scythe HK/DF

He was running a light mech (I forget which), the old bounty hunter an arty piece and infantry. I dropped on the light and killed it with a lucky shot from my solitaire. Another good shot later cracked BH who then took a pounding from everything else and hit salvage. On his turn, Mike retreated his infantry and arty from the board, saving his bounty hunter by ending the game.

2nd game V. emouse CJF

Rob was running a really good build with Black rose and a CJF jaguar with kelly and inferno flamers (and my god is that a scary combo!) + 2x sylph + infantry. Terrain was to his advantage and desert wastes was in play. I fed pieces to his force and locked down the mechs as best I could while emouse denyed me a formation shot with my kelswa. I got a lucky early shot with an unsupported kelswa on rose's rear arc and cracked her for 5 while the TGR drop went after the Jag. APM finished Rose off later. It was a very bloody battle, costing me a solitaire, JP Milhew and Bayins.

3rd game V. Andrew CJF

Black Rose again. This time supported by 3 tanks (CJF kelswa and 2x hueys (I believe -- Pulse for 4 at 12" -- is that the right tanks?) Last card in my hand was active volcanoes which helped a lot. I'll take a click on my peasant for a click on a 90+pt tank! I had some BAD luck at the start of the game, missing his middle tank twice with my formation drop. Grrr. Luckily, I started rolling before too long and killed rose with an APM shot (again) + kelswa shot and picked off one tank with my kelswa + formation drop. The rest was cleanup really after rose went down.

Win with 3.

1st place at Faction war.

All in all, I felt a bit rusty, but it felt good to pull out the robots again!

I thought Faction Wars were fun events. That is some CHEEEEEZZEY sh*te there sir. Not too far from certain Worlds Armies.

Kaiser, were you to actually show up at some events and bring your friends, we could do whatever type of event you want!

So, apparently on wizkids, Republic is pulling another Faction War. That must be especially tough, considering how most of their military assets are in the Fortress Republic, and the Senate Alliance is pulling whatever they can into their own little pocket of worlds near Irian.

And even after all the b***hing and whining from the people on the boards, looks like the RotS wins yet another Faction War.

Good thing those pieces are nice and broken.

Was there every any doubt who would win the Faction War? I fought the Republic every step of the way but it just wasn't enough. I am just one man. I still have 2 more Faction Wars left this weekend. Go Bannson's Raiders!
