Anyone picked up any news on what we can expect for MW in 2008?
I've heard a nasty rumour that MW3 won't be out until 2009 and that the SOLARIS campaign rules have been shelved. I'm mucho concerned about the first - SOLARIS doesn't bother me unless they start to bring out some mechs that can be useful in MW.
Its about a year since Outlaws was shelved. Were those new sculpts in the WD packs the only new sculpts around or I wonder if there are more to come?
Its been a LONG time since we heard anything from WK - Web Chats, Official Announcements etc. Lets hope we at least pick up a convention exclusive this year.
We're sort of "ticking over" over here but I'm not sure if we'll get a UK Nats and I'm pretty sure that WK Europe won't be coming to Gencon UK or Gencon Paris in 08 (very expensive and poor attendance).
Should we be worried or do we have to settle for the occassional mech pack release for the next 12 months?

Aside from HeroClix there hasn't been much news about anything from WK. They finally updated the official upcoming releases list and it shows HrC Nightmares, DC HC Crisis and the Anti-Monitor AP. There have been solicitations found for other stuff, but nothing said officially on the site. Considering everything that went on in the last quarter of the year, I can understand why there could be a delay.
We're probably going to get a flood of info all at once that's going to push stuff off the front page almost before anyone's seen it.

Still no real news but Topps Europe are going to put on a Heroclix event in Madrid (Spain) in July 2008. I'm pretty hopeful that MW will also get a seat at the table.
As an aside, the costs of attending Gencon Paris and Gencon UK versus the turnout/customer count may well preclude Topps Europe from attending either event.
I think the Germans are putting together their own nationals some time soon but apart from that, we seem to be pretty rudderless.
The lack of release info on the next SOLARIS pack as well as some low level intelligence gathering leads me to think that the Campaign rules have been binned. I'm not going to shed any tears for a lack of SOLARIS pieces or rules, but it doesn't say much for a game system that was supposed to inject some life into the MW gameline.

Just picked this up from one of the Horrorclix Realms sites. It purports to be a WK slide pack that previews this year's releases. 8 slides on Star Wars, 8 on pirates, 1 on Halo (release of the Banshee), 1 on a new Star Trek game, 2 on Horrorclix and 14 on Heroclix. Nothing on MW so it looks like a barren year has just turned into an empty year. Can't get a link to work but its under the Horrorclix thread on Realms as "Save your money folks, your game has been axed."
Still playing the odd game and now we're going to get 3000 point battles going using a mass battle set of rules.

Some news from GAMA reported on the Boardgame Geek Threads:
"Wizkids - is struggling with Pirates, HorrorClix, and Mechwarrior. Horrorclix will only get new stuff when licenses are obtained from popular horror properties. Although Mechwarrior is planned to get a movie in the future, the game is in jeopardy. Because of this, a new ordering technique will be implemented. Basically, it will be like GMT's P500 system. Retailers will be integrated somehow though. They don't want MW to die, but something radical needs to be introduced [they do have plans for a MW movie]. And Pirates sales have slowed down a lot, not to the point of jeopardy, but marketing changes are in order. Heroclix interest is going stronger than expected."
The GMT system seems to work well and good products are usually well supported. Once the right number of orders are received, production begins.
The new terrain pieces are very welcome - at least some one is still pushing stuff out. We're working on refing a set of mass battle rules by adding in bunkers and emplacements. Very little happening on the 600 point constructed front although we should have some sort of UK Nats in mid June.

The problem with these announcements is that even if they produce some new mechwarrior products the players would be afraid to buy them. We really do need a cool movie to get interest back into the game.
