hmm I have been pondering these. We don't have enough information on them yet but still they are eating away at my mind. if you have to make an attack roll like a Repair vehicle they are going to be fairly USELESS in my opinion. I think it would be interesting like if every friendly mech at the end of their cleanup phase within 6" of a coolant truck rolls 1d6 and gets 0 Clicks of cooling on a roll of 1 and 1 click of cooling on a 2-5 and two clicks of cooling on a 6. I am just guessing as to what the units will do but I am afraid they will be less than stellar. I am so very severely disappointed that BR didn't get a repair vehicle in annihilation Just some thoughts.

I'll bet that the coolant trucks will have a new special equipment "coolant", or somesuch. Haven't they said that they were going to update the SEC? It would probably go on the attack value, unless they make a new damage type - "liquid"

The only thing I'm wondering is how usefull will they be? If they can be transported they can be dumped to cool off mech real quick. If they have a cap 0 and make them suck, they will have to hoof-if all around, and the way mechs move these days unless these things have at least a 8-10 speed they won't be usefull at all. Maybe we'll get lucky and coolant trucks will have "coolant" and repair, and then they'll be awesome.

Ok.. that is something I didn't think about. having coolant and repair would be great. Still having to hit a Mech's 24 defense to give him a click of cooling for ~40 points seems like a waste of points to me. I am just guessing and probably should wait until the piece comes out but I like to theorize about such things.. Does anyone thing they would be worthwhile if you had to roll to hit the unit to be able to cool it?
Maybe begin and end your turn in base contact with the unit you get a couple clicks of cooling!
hmm I can come up with a thousan theories. None of them sound particularly inviting though!

If you had to make a roll to cool a mech that would be poopy. I would like to see free cooling to mechs that are in base with the coolant truck. It would take an action on the coolant truck's part and maybe even have the coolant be single use representing the loss of the liquid.

dragondawgThat would make alot of sense, since the truck is using up its reserves. bawI would love coolant and repair, that would be teh bestest thing ever! -W

That rings in about 40 more points. BUT you get to use your mech every round... even in a desert wasteland >:> Z

Can you use the PD Infantry to lower the mechs defense to use coolant, or is this just for Repair or whatever? I don't have the abilities in front of me so I assume it would just be for coolant, although if you have to roll for coolant I really don't like that at all.

Assuming, of course, that you actually have to roll for coolant to take effect, PD could be used to lower the defense in the same way that PD can be used to lower defense to make repair attempts easier.

@zxqueb I still chuckle everytime I see your penguin avatar. I hear my daughter coming home from school saying "You know how penguins test for safe water? One of them will push the other in!"
hmmm PD to lower your defense. That is still a lot of actions and positioning to get the units where you want them to be to make it work. I certainly hope they don't make a roll necessary. It is a neat gimmick but a lot of effort to make work and puts some points in a very vulnerable location.
