Does anyone know/have a feel for where set retirement sits?
Origins was the watershed, but now we are on top of the July events, are these affected by set retirement?
The Tournament Rules have yet to be changed and these stipulate the legal sets that can be used.
The July Storylines don't have any mention of adding back in Dark Age Rule Sets.
Any views/ideas/news?

The way we are reading it.. First, They aren't going to add the Dark Age Rule set back into the rules We are under AOD right now They have allowed all figures now (except for ones/sets specifically banned by Battlemaster at least 1 week in advance on website) I am not sure exactly how we do that if we actually have to edit the information on the website to ban certain units and how the 1 week is going to be enforced at this point. The way we are running it, any piece can be used! If your battlemaster is uncomfortable with where to get he can just limit the pieces to what is stated in the Tournament rules. I think everyone is still trying to get back and get organized from Origins (Nationals, Worlds Fellowship) and we had a Holiday celebrating breaking away from you guys just this week also! Here is the critical line from the announcement. "What about Origins?" you may be asking. These changes will be effective immediately AFTER Origins. The scenario rules do not identify which sets are legal just what rule sets are

I also when back and read the OFFICIAL MW Tournament rules. The only place that specifies which sets can be played is for Non Scenario format. I am going by that until someone tells me different

I think "where we're at" at the moment is waiting for a re-write of the tournament rules and this seems to be imminent. Until then, set retirement is still in force.
Sound right?

I wish they would just update the tournament rules and clear it all up I brougth a legal army to my past couple games but there were a couple of people with "used to be retired pieces" and I didn't complain when I played against them. The last thing we need to do is get people upset about retirement still being there until they change letter of the rules.

Yippeeee - the tourney rules are out and I jsut want to say thanks to SP for being so quick with the revision. Common sense seems to be the rule and I know locally that we'll get along just fine.
Within the UK, we're hoping to have a Wolf Strike event in October and that may be the first test of how widespread this common sense is. I just hope that Topps UK make it that set reitirement is in force and we can plan accordingly. I'd hate to get used to Hoverbikes and Guila Suits only to have them made viod at the last moment (sorry with 1 week's notice).
Anyway, first test of our BM tonight - we have a constructed event and, as no restrictions were put in place, I would imagine that we can use any piece.

Yes. It is going to be a little bit rocky for a while for us Battlemasters. Until we really get a hand on what we need to do to restrict units. The biggest question is how is WK going to enforce the the information was put into the event a week before? That is going to be a very tough one to enforce. I expect that there will be a few minor problems but overall it is going to work well. It would be nice if the website would allow us to have drop down menus to restrict sets or specific pieces. It will be interesting to see how it pans out.
