You know.. I am struggling with a question that should be simple.
I know I am missing something somewhere but I wonder if we haven't been playing DFA's incorrectly.
We have been playing by the Dark Age rules of DFA.
****************************************************
A ’Mech unit with an attack value greater than 0 and Jump Jets special equipment can make a special attack known as death from above. The unit making the death from above attack must begin the turn with no opposing units in base contact with it. The attacking unit must be given a move order using Jump Jets special equipment and end its move in base contact with a single target. The target does not get a free spin at this time. Ignore
terrain modifi ers for the attack.

Am I missing something in the AOD rules?
AOD rules

DEATH FROM ABOVE
’Mechs with attack values greater than 0 and with Jump Jets special equipment can make a special attack called death from above. Give the attacker a move order using Jump Jets special equipment and end the move in base contact with the target. The target gets +2 to its defense value against this attack; it may not make a free spin at this time.

Someone was questioning the DFA rules and after I read this I know I must be missing something but it looks like you can DFA out of base contact? Or at the very least (a point of contention) between two players... One said he couldn't dfa because he started the turn in base contact with someone (but the units was destroyed and the other guy wanted to DFA)
So is this a change between Dark age and AOD or am I missing something?
thanks,
