Well, whatever the reason, WK have pulled BSG from their range...
Dear Battlestar Galactica CCG Retailers and Distributors:
We are sorry to announce that the next expansion for the Battlestar Galactica CCG, Martial Law, previously planned for February, will not be releasing. Although we diligently tried to extend this property into the CCG category, we are no longer able to maintain the product.
It is important to us that you be aware of how much we have appreciated your support of the Battlestar Galactica CCG. We can only hope that you and your customers enjoyed our game half as much as we enjoyed creating it. Saying good-bye to any product like this one, into which we have poured so much of ourselves, is always difficult and we understand that you may have similar feelings. We are grateful for your dedication and we promise to continue to make more quality games in the future for you to enjoy.
We apologize for any inconvenience that this cancellation may have caused, and we thank you in advance for your understanding.
Sincerely,
Tiffany O’Brien Associate Brand Manager
I'm not a card-flipper by trade but it did seem a pretty good system and one that played well with some neat touches. The BSG TV Series is riding high in the ratings over here but someone has clipped the Game's wings.
Do you think that MW will get such an "lengthy" and "well-publicised" press release when it is it's turn to go under?

It's another example of wizkids mismanagement and misdesign of a good property. Sad, but hardly a surprise.

The system was decent, however it was quite obvious that it was not designed, at least initially, by experienced CCG designers. The basic shell of the game was very constricting, with only 1 stat (power) on the cards which would have really limited future expansion.
Also, the designers must never had heard of the term card advantage, as they printed tons of cards that had to be attached to another card to function (which was expensive resource wise and slow to develop), yet could be disrupted easily by your opponent for next to nothing....
Overall, it's sad to see this opportunity flubbed by WK, but I'm hardly surprised. When you only have one table set up in the corner of the CCG hall at Gen Con, it doesn't exactly scream "You must play this game!".

The problems with the game were stated by Jeff and Matt, and are completely true. The best part of the game was meeting Ken and Julie and Chuck. And pwning the losers at Origins.

This was posted by Roadspike over at the Wizkids forums: "I'(m) quite sad to see this game go as well. I had a blast working on it and playing it, and will continue to enjoy playing it when I get the chance. It was a delight to play, and always will be."...ummm I guess it's all clear now! -vladd

I knew Brook worked on it from the start, thats why I had such doubts. Brook is a terrible game designer. We all know the problems that were incurred when he was in charge of certain games IE MageKnight 2.0 and Mechwarrior Wolf Strike. The game just needed the proper touch; which unforunately it did not get. Its just another bad attempt to make a game when you don't know how to make a CCG. At least I can still say I was Hotshot once.
