Why don't we have mercs any more? I know Gunslingers sort of fit that role but I would like to see some Merc Vehicles and infantry (and even a couple of mechs)
What do you think?

I do not. With all the major Clans and Houses coming out, they do not need mercenaries to support their armies. In the Dark Age, remember that the factions were all very small militaries, only a regiment/galaxy in size, but now the Houses/Clans are coming in with at least 3 Regiments/Galax ies worth of troops, and perhaps more to come if WK ever decides to use more than one military regiment/galaxy per rank(Ex. Benjamen Regulars, Some other Kuritan Regulars, both for green ranking).

Merc's is where all the excitement was! You could be fighting Liao one day and then House davion the next. I really like the idea of more mercs.
There is always the need for mercs. Sometimes the house doesn't want to commit troops to "questionable " situations or no win situations!
