Battle Reports from Call to Arms Events

Here is my first one!

My boosters..

I hardly remember my boosters but here is what I played.

It was 3 boosters 600 pts. (I found out after the last game it was actually 60 minute games also)

None of my pilots matched any of my mechs.

I played a Liao Havoc(with ballistic defense gear), Kurita Solitaire, Kurita Nova Cat (SU Camo), HD Bishop, combat engineer. Cizin, spirit cat Enyo strike tank (600 exactly)


My first opponent had...

ROTS SPider, Sabertooth, Solitaire, A couple of tanks and big group of formation infantry and a single atv.

He went first. He moves up. I had the Liao Havoc move over and hit his ATV for 1. Move the rest of my forces the other way.

He cools. I pling his atv again (from water). He moves over shadow cat to help atv. and moves other units forward into the rest of my units.

My Kurita Novacat hits his spider. His atv moves for vc 3.
He moves his shadowcat over to support his other mech. He hits the Nova cat for 3 (or 1). I assault order the atv kiling it with the havoc. He pulls spider back and puts shadow cat to protect it.

I shoot with two units and miss the Nova cat.

He cools from all his heat. and I cool from most of mine.

He fires and hits the Solitaire.

I hit with the nova cat with the NovaCat. I tank drop the cizin and it hits and pulses and hits again. The solitaire also hits.

He moves his spider back up. I cool a couple of units and shoot at the spider with the enyo. I miss.

He takes a shot with the spider and misses. I finish off the Novacat and miss the spider. I also hit the solitaire and start hurting it. He fires at my Nova cat.. The realizes hits and I ask him how much damage he says (2) I said he still has hardened. no damage.

It is pretty much cleaning up at the point and time runs out.


My second game.. the local champion ;(
He had pulled a Kodiak. He also had a bishop and an enyo. He also had a stalking spider. Ok he has a great mech with a pilot. High defense with Camo. My highest attack on my side? 9. bleh. The good news. His army was 593.

SO I play defensively. I didn't realize the games were 60 minutes. I was suprised it was lasting so long ;P

We maneuvered for a while and we had a bit of a discussion and numerous remeasurings. I was trying to keep barely of his assault order range with teh Kodiak and frustrating him by using the edge of the building for it to make it look like he could make it but didn't quite We spent probalby too much time measure!

I pulled back to the corner.. I had kept moving my havoc as bait and a distraction.
He finally moved his tank drop over the wall and attack my havoc. It hit. Everything opened up on the Tank drop and I pretty much toasted it. I did run back to get 1 click of repair I think. but then moved the havoc back out to distract. He fired the spider a couple of times but only got lucky once.

He then started realizing he need to be moving much more towards center..

He declares an assault order but not against who. Time is called. He really wanted to hit injured Havoc. I thought it as out of range. I said "Leave figure where they are and make a roll. We will see if it matters" he rolls and MISSES (!) yay!

It wasn't a pretty game but it was a win.


3rd Game

Against my opponent who always follows me around ;P

He had a Clan Nova Cat Nova Cat, Stalking Spider, and a Havoc. Also a ROTS repair vehicle and combat engineer and another rots unit. He had taken down two Neathandral's already(previous games)

I didn't hear his strategy but I had a feeling. He moved all his units and repair up in formation. Wasn't much I could do. I tried avoiding but I finally had an idea. I tank dropped for a lucky hit with the Enyo on the spirit cat and the hit with Kurita novacat. He still a pretty good smirk on his face. Then I end run my havoc around to base his repair vehicle and combat engineer. His eyes about popped out. He said "I didn't know how you were going to beat me..but I see it know" apparently in the previous games they let him repair his units after getting hit. I denied him that and it was mop up after that.


Ok I may need to clean that up some.. It was a fast type up

Here is another quick type up to this event!

ok Here is another Call to arms event. I don't like how Annihilation plays sealed !!

I open my boosters. I thought well this one is good (2nd booster handed to me) it is heavy.. Savior repair vehicle.

My mechs.. Morrigan (Elite), HS Havoc and my every faithful HL Havoc. I did also get 2 combat engineers a NC Angorra. (that was my army I think. 450 Exactly)

The battlemaster had a special rule (he made the event unrestricted) You could use whatever pilot came with the mech. I had two +2 attack pilots and a +1 move +1 Def pilot. I used those.

Well another Sealed another 3 light mechs.. The interesting thing was the #2 player was there and 3 other people in the top 100. What a good day to pull JUNK The guy beside me.. PUlls two uniques and then his last booster had a non mech but no infantry or vehicles. So he gets a new box.. It has a UNIQUE in it.



first game....

I played against a new player but a very good strategist.

He had a Savior, A havoc and an Unique medium mech. a couple of infatry and another tank.

I lost the roll for going first.. he rolled an 8 and I rolled 6.

He moves up. I move to a defense position.

I have 450 he has 449.

He figures I am going to play very conservatively since I am winning already.He moves up unique and distract him by moving mech to the right away from others. he tries to go and hunt it down and splits up his forces.

I manage to get a hit with the Morrigan TSEMP. Shut the unit down. MY star player Havoc Liao DFA's the unit and my other mech runs away. he smashes the Morrigan with his other unit. and moves for better position with other mech

I retreat Morrigan for repair. Roll and miss reparing.
Liao Havoc pounds his mech some more.


He cools two of his mechs and clears tank.

My stormhammer havoc damages both tank and new mech. Liao cools. Fire with infantry and hit. He fires and misses. I fire twice and miss. He fires again and misses.
The difference was he needed 13's I need 8's

I fire and took down other mech. it is all but over now.



2nd round

I play the father of the #2 player.. he is about #70 or so.

He has a Stalking SPider, Havoc and a solitaire. (also the ROTS HarjellII on one of his units)

We were both 450. He puts woods in middlish. He measures it 13" out. so his spider can barely make jumping into it. I put blocking in between his deployment zone and the woods.

He goes first.. he moves spider.. I measured and looked at unit but says.. oops put wrong pilot into it. It only has 9 movement. He was an inch short. He said he woudl play them like they were.

I assaulted and hit the spider with tsemp. The star (My Liao Havoc) charges and hits the spider.

I move up my other mech. for an attack next round.

he fires at my liao and misses. Fires at morrigan and misses (needed 12's and 13's) and then breaks spider away and moves him away.

My morrigan needs 9's to hit his other mech adn rolls crit hit. My other mech follows up with another attack.

Havoc hits undamaged mech.

He fires and needs big numbers. He hits once. I hit again with tsemp. fail heat roll. Hit again with both other mechs.

My liao havoc also DFA'ed another unit before the game ended.

I was playing VERY ATYPICAL for me.. Charging (I never do that, playing agressively)

3rd Round

Playing against my son. We were the last two undefeated people. he moved up .. Protecting himself with his repair vehicle. he was short points. he expected me to sit. I let him get vc3 retreated to corner.

he started getting a little bit braver.. I decide to gamble. I assault out into then needed 12';s to hit with tsemp. Got it. Then everyone pummels the big mech. He starts back up and fires and misses. I tsemp again. We annihilate mech. The other light mech was trying to support but then we cooled and then we fought and killed the other..

it was over pretty quick.

I apologize in Advance for these "recountings" The games all start running together. I played 5 games over the weekend Hopefully they are reasonably accurate and somewhat interesting. When I go back and read them I see that sometimes they are disjointed! Oh well If people stop reading I won't post. I am always open to suggesting for how to clean them up!

I went out to the Recess CTA event last night. Here's a quick battle report.

I pulled:

Buford
Jack
HK Nova Cat

Yes, you counted right. I got an extra infantry (and an extra card).

I ended up playing:

Buford + pilot
Jack + pilot

ROTS CT
Total: 450

Game 1
I played against a new guy. He ran
The elite NC
a stalking spider
Assorted infantry.

He didn't really know what he was doing. He moved up into a trap (between blocking that I could AO around) with his mechs early in the game. Jack CC assaulted the spider and missed, but gave buford the bonus to hit the NC. Which he did. In the next 4 turns, buford did a total of 28 points of damage to the two mechs.

Buford's pilot ability (double damage if you get and attack total more than 3 higher than the target's defense) is unbelievable.

Anyway, that was a win with 4 vcs

2nd game was against southpaw.
Mike had an elite Nova Cat as well. He also ran a sea fox solitaire and an infantry drop from a bishop... not all the same faction though, which was good he couldn't get a formation shot against Jack. He had the last man standing mission (which I didn't quite understand) but since he said he could win the game without firing a shot I figured I had to engage hardcore. I hit the solitaire with a lucky assault from buford on the third turn and pressed jack at his bishop. After some manuvering, he based jack with his NC (grapple!) and preceeded to miss. I hit him in return, shut him down and captured while buford mopped up everything else.

Win with 3 vcs

last game against andrew.

He had the Kodiak + a repair vehicle and a bunch of infantry. He set up terrain badly, leaving an open spot in the center with no hindering. So he had to come out to me. As soon as he did, I ran up buford and jack. He pounded jack, who retreated. Buford got in and went into CC mode and basically tore through the kodiak in 4 or 5 rounds. Then I danced around infantry for the rest of the day, trying to keep my BADLY hurt mechs alive.

Win with 3 vcs.

Overall, it was a lot of fun!

I wish I could have played all 3 mechs but it ended up being Nebula and Sabertooth with pilots Nebula had light FF armor and CNC thunder bird.

First round I had to fight that cursed Kodiak. Just like the Highlanders of old they couldn't hit the broadside of a barn. The 2nd round was a bye so I was 1-1 with 0. Last round I swept pinky, who played rather Conservative. He had a HD Havoc, SC morrigan, and BR solitaire, HS JES III, NC ATV, HS Ravager. He fed me units two at a time with his Morrigan hanging back. I probably would have been overwhelmed if pressed with 3 mech and the JES III. So I end up with a respectful
2-1 with 3.

Call to arms event eh. Mine went a little something like this.

My army was a Davion Stalking Spider, a Dragons Fury Morigan, and Ingwe. All had a pilot of some sort, and I had a RotS Combat Techs.

First round I fought Tom (Castager). He only shows up once and a while, so hes still fairly new at the game. He ran up with all his pieces and I just sat in water as he came into range. I did however miss a 5 on a shutdown mech, and I had my first of 3 crit misses that night.

Second round I fought Andrew, with his d**n kodiak. I moved up on his encampment in the woods, and made all my opening attacks with my mechs. I missed the second volley completely after he scorched my stalking spider. I ran both the morigan and the stalking spider back to get healed as Ingwe stayed ok and did some more damage. as the Spider ran back into it, Ingwe went salvage. I couldn't heal my morigan at all, needing 8's, 8's here people! I managed to heal it after 5 turns, hitting only getting 2 clicks out of salvage tho. I charged back in with the morigan to the retreating Kodiak. I salvaged the kodiak with that charge, and with my succesful break with my almost dead spider, there wasn't much left for Andrew to do. What does Andrew do, shoots at my spider with an Angerona(I think) BA and crit hits the 17 he needed through hindering terrain, throwing my spider into salvage. He shot with a formation to kill my Morigan that next round, as I was shut down. He then used his savior repair vehicle to repair it 6 clicks out of salvage. With all mechs dead, I had a 3 click down RotS Combat Tech vs the world. If I hadn't have had such rotten luck that game, needing 9's and 10's with Ingwe in the middle of the game, and suffering 2 crit hits from andrew, and multiple 15's from infantry.

My last round I played Rodney. He had a Nova Cat and a RotS Stalking Spider. I moved up on the Nova Cat and decimated it in one turn, with a huge pounce of my 3 mechs. He moved up a tank and the Spider and I finished off the Nova Cat. I salvaged the tank and hit the Spider once for about 4 damage, trading getting my Morigan and Spider salvaged. I ran them back, and a damaged Ingwe tried to fend off the Angerona(?) BA that were pressing, along with the spider. I healed my Morigan, moved up and crit missed on his spider. My morigan went down, and my spider got healed slightly. It went after the republic spider and traded shots, with myself getting the better heat rolls. All that was left at the end of the firefight was a salvaged Davion spider that went back to the Techs to not be salvaged at the end of the game, while Ingwe went solo to fight 1 more infantry.

I had alot of fun, regardless of luck for me, and I won fellowship. It was good to see everyone come out and play, as we had 10 I believe, and I had a blast. I hope we have that many at the next Call to Arms.

My first match was agaist Rodny I threw my units in a cresent formation Quantum in the middle each enyo formation on either side with the Havocs on the flanks.
I was being blitzed by Ingwae on one side and a liao havoc and enyo in the middle and Kurita spider on the other flank. My havocs and ROTS enyo dealt with Ingwae, while Quantum tied down the Spider while the SC enyo team shot the HL havoc before the HL enyo could make it into range. I also ahd to deal with a Cizen (df) and NC infantry formation. it was a tough fight but I pulled out all 4 VC.

The 2nd Battle agaist Beth was a Snipers duel litterly. We manuevered and used Snipers Steep to take pot shot. We killed enough to tie and I "won" on a roll off.

The big show down came agaist Dave. It was pitched the first half of the game then Quantum got smoked. One pulse shot one dead hellion. The I got an advatage, Dave's dice cooled off and I was able to rest 4 VC and the W to take the tornament and Chief.

What do you mean daves dice cooled off? My dice were never hot. I only needed an 11 to hit for my first pulse on Quantum, then I needed like a 9. The rest of my rolls were terrible, missing a 10 to capture a Havoc for probably game. If I could have kept both mechs captured and kept Katanna alive, it would have been mine. But of course I don't roll above an 8 all game.

Another Call to arms event.. Another fine fine pull
This time I didn't get all light mechs..

I pulled

2 ROTS Stalking Spiders
1 BR Solitaire

1 NC Vet Cizin
2 bishops

2 combat engineers
thunderbird
Gray death battle armor
and two other infantry I can't remember ;P


I thought.. WOW! I finally didn't pull all lights.. then I look. My pilots all worked! wow! then I noticed none of my pilots had any plusses to attack bonus. My highest attack of my force was a 9! My equipments for the mediums were both Medium Evade (a horrible equipment in my opinion). Equipment for light was ROTS Repair unit. That was the bad news.. The really bad news.. People didn't show up for event. There was like 9 people signed up but not that many showed up.
The good news it wasn't ranked


I thought about a Cizin tank drop. But tank dropping with an 8 attack just doesn't cut it.

So I go with all 3 mechs and two combat engineers. a pilot on one of the spiders and the solitaire.

Hmm I thought. I have speed and maneuverability.


My opponent sits across the table from me. They have..

King Crab with reflective armor and 23 defense. (12 attack)
Savoir repair vehicle with Reflective
Kurita enyo
too many infantry.

I am looking.. all of my attacks are energy. I have 9 attack as my highest. ok 14's for 1 click of damage against the big mech.. ugggh

My opponent goes first.

Moves up tank and mech.

I move both spiders into water and solitaire into water.

opponent cools.

I assault order and hit tank miss pulse
I assault order with other spider.. and CRIT MISS.

Tank moves up for shot King Crab Mech moves up.
Moves savior up.

I move stalking spiders away and run the Solitaire into the rear arc of the Savior (hey he has 30" move ;P)

Opponent moves to threaten Solitaire. infantry move up.

I cool spiders and break solitaire at a run away back to his friends the spiders.

Opponent cools King crab. moves infantry up.

I kill enyo with pulse on spider.. Jump other spider into woods... WIthin assault range of KC but still he needs 12's to hit.

Opponent assault orders Spider in woods.. Hits (rolls 16)
and moves infantry.

I run spider away to combat technician.. he tries to repair.. CRIT MISS.

I fire at the KC with my goodspider.. hits 1 damage but even worse more heat. Opponent makes heat rolls.

Opponents turn vents KC.

My turn I run solitaire into rear arc of Savoir and move spider away and try to repair spider.. Repair spider.. heal it two clicks. Move infantry up towards mech.

Solitaire hits Savior. I cool units.

(there were a couple more turns of jockeying for position and my firing at infantry here but I can't hardly remember)

Savior fails breakaway. Opponent sees opportunity to start killing stuff moves up just outside assault range. time is running short.

I hit Savior and pulse and kill it. Make heat rolls.
Base King Crab with infantry.

King crab can't assault. fails break away roll.

I run my units away from king crab.. (I guess light mechs do have one good going for them)

King crab moves and time is up.


My second and last game was a forfeiture. Opponent didn't want to play against me. He had pieces as bad and didn't want to play another round with them.
