Supposedly, Mechwarrior was pretty big around here at one point, now not so much. There are some people registered online from around here that I've contacted, but they are up at college in North Carolina (playing for baw no doubt)  I have a store just outside of Myrtle Beach that I've set up with. It is right across the street from a high school and MTG is HUGE there. The owner sets up state and regional tournaments and seems like he does official rules calls. Nice guy, helpful too, not too optomistic about my chances for luring Mech players, but seems like he'll do whatever he can to help me out. We set up some demo dates last Sunday, next Sunday and then see from there. I showed up with my girlfriend and a ton of mech resources and give-aways, but no one else entered the store in the three hours we were there  I'm not bummed though, it was my first time there and the owner told me that hardly anyone comes in on Sunday. He said he would let me run whatever day I wanted, so next next Saturday(the big MTG day) I think I'll show up and hand some stuff out to anyone who is interested. That was my girlfriend's idea anyway, and I think its a good one. Speaking of her (typing of her?), she was kind of impressed (!) when I told her I was the Mechwarrior National Champ. When I blew her off one weekend when we first started seeing each other, she got over it quick when I said I won Unrestricted Worlds. Now, as of a month ago, she is eagerly learning to play Mechwarrior! She is going to be good too. I'm trying to bring her along kind of slow, but she keeps asking pretty advanced questions and mentions things that I didn't see or understand until after playing for months! She is going to be really good. Anyway, back to school. Take care everyone. |

New Job + Girlfriend who likes mech and plays it + living near Myrtle Beach / not in snowy Ohio =

He has done well. Wait until the first ice/snow hits down there though.. (maybe not this year or next but when it does) They lock down and don't know how to drive in it  Still all in all it sounds like things are going great. |

Lockdown for snow, I don't think they close anything unless its -10* with 5 foot of snow and ice on the ground up here. But then again, this is Northeastern Ohio, the most f**ked up weather pattern in all the world.

I remember they cancelled Public school down here a few years back. It was because they predicted snow for the next day. It ended up being like 60 and sunny! I also have spent a number of days at home because of snow  |

Now, what can we learn from this? Dave needs to either: change his name to Mike, or become US Champ, UnRes World's Champ, or Rules Arb, then he'd FINALLY get a girl? Muhahahaha... sorry Dave... I couldn't pass this up...

Well, as much as Mike is a nice name, David is just, well, better.
And as for a champ? Although I doubt I'll be going to unrestricted worlds at DragonCon, I will be taking the title of nationals champ this year...
...somehow, I mean not all of us can plan our armies in advance with future sets in mind. I can tell you last year if I owned Esperanza going into nationals, she'd have been my mech of choice.
And as for the girl part, well, I'm working on that. At least you guys have things to be proud of and tell your gf's. I'm a student worker and live in my parents house, thats so impressive. But just for you guys I'll step it up a little.

Well, congrats on being a Battlemaster, DragonDawg. It was nice playing when I did, and I am sure you will make an even better Battlemaster.
