I am a little underwhelmed by some of the units being released...

Hadur's are being rereleased (I assume without ARTY) I didn't think them impressive before.. I can't believe they are going to be good now.
Mjolinirs? I never really cared for them. Played a couple in sealed and they did ok.. but they were very limited pieces with customability perhaps they will be better.

Kelswa's have lost their trademark 24 defense. They are just normal expensive tanks now that are vulnerable to about everything on the field.

Pal suits?

Ok now some units I am actually interested in..

The lokis sound interesting... The unit I am most interested in is Damocles.. Enforcer III. I Liked enforcers. This is Julian's ride. he is the Hero that should be leading House Davion! It sounds interesting.

I like the Loki's too. The Non Nightstalkers sound fun as well. Alexi Holt I will love to field, for Nostalgia if not playability. She is decent in her own right tho.

Mjolnirs, Blech! I remember the old ones. I swear if the RotS one has -1's on its starting heat dial I will kill something.

Phoenix Hawks weren't terrible, maybe with customizeabe features they will be ok.

Damocles sounds fun too. I really want Tremor, the Unique Thor. I've heard things....

The twins that were previewed aren't as nasty once you understand how they actually work (Thanks Southpaw). They will be fun to slaughter since they won't work for me, they will die like all the other traitors to human kind.

Whats everyone elses thoughts on the units?

Looking at the checklist, I am thinking that I will probably pick up all the non RD, NC, WH, LI and HK pieces. As far as the rest, I'll probably buy a bunch of infantry, which is almost always useful, and very few tanks, which almost never are.

Vtols are no longer effective, so those are out. Shamash, Hadurs, Kinnols and Ziblers... unless they have changed, I will do without in competitive games. r10s are always good. Coolant trucks seem interesting and useful. The enyos might be good if the ones in annihilation are any indication. I'll get one of each. The kelswas I won't get if they are really cap 0 as realms indicates.

Mechs:

Jackalopes. No. The sculpt is just... no. The combat role is not really different from solitaires, which I particularly like. republic got the best one. 21 defense and a NICE heat dial.

P-hawk/Mjolnir/night stalkers. I suspect will be the same deal. I liked P hawks back in the day, so we'll see. Jack is great, so maybe the night stalkers will be ok.

The only violator I like is the RotS one. The 21 defense + evade on the dial is nice. Cheap for a medium.

I withhold judgement on the Raptor IIs, scourges and lokis.

Fortune and glory still seem broken to me at the moment no matter how you slice it. What was Mike's ruling that makes them not nasty, Dave?

anubis... not great, but not terrible. Best loadout is Kelly + EC although I do like the "Run for cover" ability.

Headhunter. I kind of like him, solid stats for the length of the dial... Able to dish it out even after taking a hit. Put a decent pilot + x pulse on him and you have a decent foil to the twins.

Alpha: Ok. Standard wolves big mech. Cool sculpt. Awesome with pilot.

Mercy: strong, but again, pretty standard fare.

Heat: Not as good as alpha.

Thumper. With pilot it's good. really good. Though a bit too dependant on good dice rolls.

Vengence. I'm not feeling it.

This might be the first set I don't buy a couple of cases of.. I might just try the buy singles this time.. I am approaching 10,000 figures rapidly and space is really an issue.


How many mjolinirs,violators and truly useless tanks can I stand? Oh well I think it is because everyone is falling away from MW that I am also losing interest. I miss the days of 16 people there playing! I am going to see how the singles (and playing in sealed and such not) works out. If anyone is interested in trading any new figures for older LE's... I am the person to talk to
