Ok, I have a couple of minutes so I may as well start this, even if I don't get to the whole thing today. I am certainly interested in hearing the impressions that you guys have as well..
Infantry:
Minigun Cycles. Yes! Fast basers that happen to be cheap enough to use as filler and still have a battlefield use! I'm a big fan of the ROTS and WH versions. The Steiner's 10 speed is a bit slow for me and the Kurita is getting expensive enough that I would start looking at other units instead.
Clan Battle Armor. I love CBA anyway, and I'm glad it's back, especially with all the VTOL transports in use right now. I only don't like the RD version much, but that is more because I don't like their paradigm applied to infantry and vehicles. They just don't have the staying power to make an effective hit back.
Pal Suits: I like the WH one, both as a recon unit to base and not take an order and to drop as formation support (with it's 10" range). The others are average, but not terrible.
Undine: Again, average. nothing we haven't seen before and nothing that will take the place of some standbys. The high-ish cost make these the infantry filler of the set for me.
Sylphs: I like them. Useful in many situations as FAST basers. I am loving the Steiner Grapple version. Kurita gets a great 22" move!
Gnome: These are hearty suckers! 7 clicks each means they will be around for a while. I would put the JF or LI versions in a slingshot saxon. The RD lives long enough for a potentially effective counter strike. Nice units!
Oni: Solid units, though a bit pricy. Long life is good.
Simian: I like the LI version. 18pts for 10" JJ movement, a respectable range and decent stats. Nice. I'm not a huge fan of flamers unless it is a dedicated capture formation...
Vehicles:
Shamash: Ugh.
Yasha. Ugh.
Hawk Moth. Ugh.
None of these live long enough to be terribly effective. At least the yasha's have a decent firing range. They may get in a shot. But with such a low attack, they won't hit anything worth hitting. Can we please get one of the Yashas with AnP so it can at least be somewhat useful?!
Hadur: Not a terrible unit, but not one that's going to see the battlefield. I liked them better when they dropped pogs. And I didn't like them much then either.
Zibler: Useless.
R10: Nice, particularly the WH version. I like the recon to help with order useage on the drop. I like the falcon's speed. The liao and RD versions get too expensive for what they do.
Coolant trucks: They are... well... cool! I really like the idea, the SE and the sculpt. The WH and LI versions are best from an efficiency standpoint. I will be interested to see how these function with a big mech in a desert wasteland.
Enyo: These are solid drops with their IT and Pulse. Steiner and NC versions are the best since the JF and RD versions don't have SEs that overlap, decreasing their effectiveness. I'm not sure we really needed more of these though... especially not the NC version.
Cizin: With a longer range these would be nice little tanks. As it is, they aren't too useful.
Kinnol MBT: Great damage output on these for how cheap they are. I'd think about using them with an infantry formation to crack a mech.
Kelswas: What can I say... I like big tanks and I cannot lie. The WH is excellent as is the Liao version. I wish the WH version had two targets, though. The steiner is TERRIBLE as it only has a 180 arc and a 12" range.
Non-unique Mechs:
Jackalope: I despise these mechs from a concept standpoint. I'm a bit upset that they are kind of neat. I like the stackable Anti Missile system on such cheap mechs. Great in twos and threes to hunt in packs. They have a nice, distinctive battlefield role. Too bad they look like freaking bunnies.
Phoenix hawks. THe NC one may be playable with its long range, but probably not. The other's aren't bad, but hellions and solitaires are both going to be chosen first.
Mjolnirs: I'm glad we have some mechs that ring in at less than 100 pts. I am not feeling that these will be strong enough to compete, even en masse. The Liao version might be ok.
Night stalkers: Cool sculpt but they need a better way to get to their evade. They don't hold a candle to "Jack."
Violator: I'm not seeing these as terribly useful.
Raptor II: These either. Defense is just too low. The ROTS version may be ok with it's 14", 2 target secondary.
Scourge: Solid Mechs. I like the ROTS version. Good range and damage output.
Loki: Again, solid. 6 damage primary is quite nice. Throw some pulse on those bad boys and throw down. Plus the lokis just look so darn cool. I'm glad they are non-unique.
That's what I have for now... your thoughts?
