I don't know why.. But the interview with Kelly over on MWrealms actually unsettled me.
I have met Kelly a number of times. A very nice person and it is nice to see her open up and be honest about her current thoughts and a lot of the behind the scenes thoughts!
The question that gave me the Complete willies was the one about if she Plays an MW for fun. Answer Not very much and when she does.. She grabs the fewest number of units possible. She rarely wins. She has problems remembering the current rules because she is thinking about future rules and the way she wants them.
The concerned feeling I have is that this seems to be where the game is heading. Lets take a couple of RHDM units or fast unstoppable units and just do some dice rolling until someone gets lucky. (Also RISC is here also. Lets try and get lucky to win)
She rarely wins. It seems to me that you actually would want to have someone who was thinking about how units could be optimized and used with tactics for designing the units. Someone who would tactically be able to optimize the units given and see advantages and problems put into armies.
She has problems remembering current rules because of Future rules. When designing units knowing how they are going to be interacting with the current rule set is DRAMATICALLY important in my opinion.
I am taking some of this out of perspective and this is only her for fun games. It just didn't set well with me.
There is the age old problem of when you are doing something you love and then it becomes work it is no longer fun! I know Kelly has a lot of pressures on her trying to get everything right and I am not sure if she is solely responsible for designing the stats on units. I just hope MW is going the right way. I love this game and it has taken some turns and some of them have haven't gone too well. Some it took me a while and I learned to deal with.
I was just wondering if her statements struck anyone else as odd as they did me?
