So am I the only one who thinks Draddog AND Vairdic getting laid off might be the beginning of the end for MW?

Shock news or what? At the centre of this is a guy (with a new addition to the family) who's lost his job. I've never met Kev, but I thought your journal entry painted a magnificent picture. The fact that Draddog is one of our own, really hits home. Not just that, Kev has been at the centre of MW for so long. Its quite right that he hasn't let on who else may have been affected, but perhaps there are other "big names" that have been sacked? Not only is that another personal blow for those people and their families, but it is another indicator of how WK regard the MW line.
Of those "core" games that are continuing, 2 (BSG and Creepy Freeks) seem to be tied into commercial arrangements. If MW was at the "core", why get rid of one of its stalwarts and leading lights?

Disturbing and unsettling are some of the words that come to mind. I wish the "Company" would give us an idea of the direction or who is in charge of MW now.
Kicking both of the guys who are the face of Mechwarrior certainly doesn't sound good!

Possibly this is the beginning of the end of MW as we know it. I think this is Topps beginning to exert its control throughout WK finally.

I am hoping that they will announce their plans for what they are going to do. Who is going to be in charge!

I see from the WK forums that Kelly is still there. I too hope that the new plans are publicised sharpish.

I certainly don't think it's the end for WK or for Mechwarrior. Restructuring / layoffs suck for those involved and I definitely feel badly for those people who lost their jobs, but hopefully this will help the WK bottom line. If the company is making money, the chances of the game sticking around are better. And if MW wasn't doing fairly well, it would have been cancelled in addition to the layoffs. So I think MW is safe at this point.
Plus, Kelly is still there and the game is better now than when she took the helm. No, I really don't see Mech dying off anytime soon.

They called it a core brand.
Hard to say what the long term effects will be, if you want to be in the know get some shares it entitiles you to check their books once in awhile.
Doesnt help that Topps owns WK.
We will see.

Really guys, it'll be ok. Mechwarrior is going to be around for quite a while. I'm not talking as RA, I'm talking as a player, fan, and customer. This game means a lot to all of us, and it's not going away anytime soon.

I hear what you are saying Michael! I think Mechwarrior has some life left in it. Things like this just make me a little queasy. I mean I am spending ~750 $ a release (nowadays). I stopped my 2+ cases per release and tons of sealed! It makes me a lot more hesistant to keep spending such large amounts. This is definitely not a sign of things exploding out!
