The basic principles of HeroClix "House Ruling" would be integrated into the MW Rules.
This also means that:
There will be WizKids events with their own specific "House Rules" for each Event. Those "WizKids House Rules" for the Event cannot and could not be changed. This would present WizKids with an opportunity to do specific scenarios/storylines that will TRULY affect the dynamics of the game now and in the future.
"What about Origins?" you may be asking. These changes will be effective immediately AFTER Origins. The scheduled Events WILL GO ON AS PLANNED. However, the "Anti-Faction War" may be undergoing some revision. Don’t panic. The goal at Origins is to play hard and have fun… and you will!

I fully expect a Banned/Restricted list, including the following units:
-DF Schmitt -BR Sprint -SS A4 -Bayin Killer Clowns
And probably some combination of Maxims, J-37s, and ATVs... if they're feeling saucy.

I could almost see the SSw Towed A4 arty to be retired. Honestly, all the A4's are pretty bad and could be retired. I would love to see the Kelswa retired myself, if I never see another assault tank I wouldn't shed a tear.

Had a night to sleep on it and I'm still pretty positive about the "un-retirement" thing. An out and out banned list would be useful - agree with all those pieces you listed Trev. The big benefit for me is being able to open up the field to a load of stuff that just adds to the mix. Guila Suits, Hoverbikes, Fa Shih BA, Mortar Squads, JI100 Repair Vehs come to mind. The pitfall for me would be how older pieces now have the opportunity to interact with either Faction Pride Cards or Situational Alliances. The D1 Schmitt was bad enough on its own, but allowing it to shoot through blocking with SA001 seems crazy. The re-introduction of a lot of decent SC units will probably make this SA more popular than ever. There are no doubt more nasty combos out there - adding back BR and SSwn units into the mix will mean their SA will produce zombie armies from hell. I'm not too fazed about arty. The next base set may well remove arty as we know it from the rules pages. I can think of out club getting back at least 1 player who left with retirement and we'll loose no one - at the end of the day, that sort of trend can't be bad for the game. I'm just off to find out how many ICE mechs it will take to block a hyperlaser's LOF...

No retirement will cause some concerns.
What rules for Worlds, as all rules are now House rules. For the competitive game this could be a deathstroke as people now face different types of tournement depending who the BM is. I think we need a Universal rule set. Also Rating are affected by this less of a concern in europe.
It is great for the Faction Pure people as they can now use a large set.
People are suggesting a banned list. Fine as long it is WK who says what is banned and what is not.
Frankly if these issues are resolved I see no problem, but I fear we will get chaos first before make up their mind how to handle it. That worries me.
I think this was not a well thought out move by WK/Topps.
On a personal note, it allows for some realy interesting armies. I hope there will be no banlist just force 2 mechs in 600 or howabout the following formats.
Skirmish 300 points.
Engagement 600 min 1 mech
Battle 1200 min 2 mechs.
I dont think it would nesseceraly stop decline in sales what probaly caused this move. As it is too radical to call an thought out strategy.
All they need is think how they want to shape this game in 1 years time. I have the feeling that instead of conceptual thinking they are looking at bottom lines only. You need to do both. Assesing a community who is also your player/customer base is tricky.
Apperently they feel the last one didnt translate in conversions (more sales) But without inside knowledge this is hard to gauge.
It feels as a knee jerk reaction to decline in sales. My suggestion is get an Hollywood movie. That will cause a big influx in new customers, and try to keep your existing customer base steady.
Indentify the type of customers, which I have the feeling is still not clear to WK. What the difference is between the sales behaivior of a comeptitive player and a faction pure collector. And how to use those differences in product devolpment and marketing strategies.
.....Now i read this ramble I am not applying for a job......

Some decent ideas Elite. My friend who isn't a MW player heard some of my discussions about the game and he asked "Why don't they enforce having 1 mech per army?"
My greatest concern is about venues I visit (other states and far away) making some unusual rules and not posting them on the board. This needs to be stressed and strongly enforced that it has to be on the website!
I have been packing away all my old figures also.. Worlds is going to be interesting!

It amazes me to see how you guys do it, you build armies months in advance... That is something i havent really mastered, though i do have a clear idea of whats good and whats bad. I like doing somethings different, i like unpredictable things, or just plain fun (oh how i should have wept about my poor BR Zeus that didnt get far because of my crappy rolls) For a solution, well i think that what all these "uber" units have in common is that they all need a lot of orders to work effectively. Id say make command something automatic, but limited to 1 or 2 max. Because really the only reason mechs are used in 600 is because that its just the most effective way of getting a lot of points to use one order

From the "Ask KevinG" thread on WK (sniff): It’s certainly going to cause some havoc for a while. However, WizKids tournaments like Nationals and Worlds will still most likely be run with the “last five/six sets” rule, so the higher level tournaments are in good shape. Casual and in-store play will be more challenging, but with the excellent BattleMasters available things should run smoothly. That’s my short answer.

I suggested a while ago when they asked my opinion, I said unrestrict everything but the ranked games. That would have been an easier quick method I think but perhaps some Battlemasters really wanted the control. I am not sure unretirement will bring any players back but we shall see!
