The formats look good to me. I'm really extremely glad there is a 150pt kicker for the sealed. 600pts for 3 boosters is too much. Although if we are playing wolf strike and have 4 mechs in our hands it might not be too bad.
I am a bit disappointed that falcons prey is out. Its back to the drawing board for some of my armies. I really don't know what post falcon's prey mech you use in place of Flavio. Hmm.

So what is lacking in Va that you could put into that 150 points?
A 3-cap transport Artillery A variety of pilots A variety of gear ATVs/basers
Anastasia Kerensky would fit the pilot bill well enough but I'm not sure how many points she'd be costed at (do you assume its her max cost of a recruited assault mech?). There are the other WH pilots that would fit any mech.
Failing that, you could always risk a class-specific pilot - there are a lot of light and mediums in the set and a +2 AV pilot on either would make a difference (to what are pretty disappointing mechs). Problem is, you have to pull the right class of mech.
Then there is gear - all class-specific but light IT is cheap and will fit the Anubis' and Osiris mechs. Not too fussed about medium gear. Heavy IT - here's hoping you get to pull a Thor as its a lot of points.
Troops - your chance to fill in the gaps that are so prevalent in Va. A least 1 x 3 Cap tpt is a must (something that can withstand Hyperlaser or be armoured against the CW targetting may help). Your 3 boosters will yield 3 vehicles and there are 2 types of tank out in Va that cry out to be dropped.
40 points will get you the CNC/HK ATV combo. You'll have 6 inf from your 3 boosters - some WH inf would let you set up movement/fire formations. WH PAL suits would make your army a bit more order-efficient.
TTLs could rule but won't dent some of the better Va pieces which have blue and black armour. They will also be easy prey to the CW Thor (30 people playing with 3 boosters each will mean that there are likely to be 2 of these around).
No FP means no CJF Sylph BA but Va has no fast basers/VC3 getters. Are the Do Sylphs worth the points?
Just some thoughts of a Worlds-wanabee. Good luck gents and I think that SP has done a good job getting this level of detail out so soon after Origins.

The set restriction looks to apply only to the constructed part if i read that correctly...

There's a bit more clarification on the WK site.
Pilots and gear must come with a suitable mech (which makes bringing them pretty difficult).
The 150 point element must come from AoD onwards.
With this in mind, you could take along a BR Soli with a Minoru Kurita pilot for 118 or a WH Mjolnir with Kerensky for 117 (no need for Kerensky to be recruited at this point). It only leaves 33 points which is too little for a 3 Cap (or much else, for that matter).

Ok.. Trevor.. You are stressing me out. I had a nightmare of walking through GenCon and being told the rules for the event I was going to play. I have been considering a lot about the availability of what to bring! I think it is going to be a little bit goofy personally with bringing 150!

I didnt do anything!
(Okay, I DID suggest a 150-pt. addendum for 600-pt. Sealed games on the WK site about a month ago, which seems to have serendipitously been picked up as the Sealed format for Worlds, but I didn't DO anything!)

I like that addition A LOT. 600 for 3 boxes of sealed could lead people to be mega-screwed in their pulls (like easily 100-150pts under if you pull all cheap light mechs with inappropriate pilots. Having that 150pt padding is necessary and good. Kudos for that idea Trevor.

The 150 points is a nice addition yeah. But it could also be really usefull when we get WS instead of VA. Because you know, we would only get two boosters, and would be really tight for support.

Bah. I think I would rather play sealed than have to guess as to what to bring You are stressing me out trevor by starting to make me worry about what rules are going to be in effect I actually had a nightmare about it Saturday but then I realized why Sunday playing during the constructed. According to the new rules my army isn't legal because they aren't including Falcon Prey units. I need to go back to the drawing board!

This evil man should at least used his powers of influence to do some good such as getting rid of the whole sealed-draft business in the first place..... Now tell us evil man what is the super secret formula you no doubt devised and suggest to the powers that be.....

I've got to say that adding the extra 150 points for VA draft is an excellent idea and it does go some way into making up for that set's deficiencies. I hope that this continues into WS - only having 2 boosters to choose from will also skew the format - which is pretty hit and miss at the best of times.
I'd only get suspicious about Trev's invovlement in the super-secret format if it turns out that everyone has to play with 480 points of mechs - and that's 3 Arnis' each...
Anyway, if WK are taking the opportunity to listen to the top gamers, good for them if they hoist some of these on board.

If we were able to bring Falcon's Prey my options would be pretty easy. Not knowing what you are going to pull makes the 150 pts much more difficult, I am struggling. My first instinct is to bring heavy pilots ;P My last sealed I didn't get one I could use with the mech I pulled.

You'll need to bring a mech with that pilot - that's the only way SP will allow CECs to be brought along - as part of a legal MEch outload (eg Kerensky + WH Mjolnir or Minoru Kurita and CNC Anubis).

I guess no heavys are going to be brought unless we bring in the WH Pilots! Hmmm it is becoming more and more confusing
